More super science work!

Yesterday we had a very scientific day indeed! We started our second session by matching up definitions of scientific words that we will be using in our new Expedition. 6B were immersed into a further science experiment where they had to light up Harry Potter’s wand and Ron Weasley’s car lights. They were only given certain equipment and they had to work out what they needed to make their experiment successful. The children then had to write up their experiment. I was very impressed with how resilient the children were! Well done you lovely lot!

We care Wednesdays!

Today in crew, we looked at relationships, characteristics and qualities. We discussed celebrities who have characteristics and qualities that we admire such as Princess Diana because she helped lots of people as well as Sir Tom Moore who was determined to raise lots of money for the NHS. The children then worked in pairs to write down the qualities and characteristics of their partners which definitely put smiles on lots of people’s faces. It was lovely to hear what kind things they said about one another.

We are scientists!

6B have been super scientists this morning! They have been immersed into another one of our case study’s that we will be engaging with this term. 6B have been looking at states of matter. They worked so hard at identifying what makes a solid, a liquid and a gas. They then used this knowledge to create anchor charts for our classroom. They are so excited to start our science case study next week!

Amazing artwork!

The creativity has continued to flow today as we have experimented with watercolours to create some fabulous Harry Potter artwork.

Well done everyone. You have all worked so hard today!

Fabulous Painting!

This morning, we have been experimenting with water colours. We tested our I wonders and discussed what we noticed. We noticed that when we added salt to our painting it gave texture to our painting and that when we drew marks with a white wax crayon before painting over, it gave the impression of light. We have then used our knowledge to create beautiful art work.

We are artists

This morning we have immersed ourselves into our art case study as a mini hook! We have found out who the artist is that we will be studying this term- Sir Quentin Blake and we have learnt a lot about him. We’ve even had a go at some Harry Potter style artwork in the style of Sir Quentin Blake. We have used a range of water colour techniques and reflected and discussed which have worked the best and why. It’s been a gorgeous morning and we can’t wait to work on our critiques and finish our final pieces ready to display in our classrooms! Check back on our blog later for the finished pieces!

Imaginative immersion – Day 1

I’m not sure who was more excited about our first day back: me or the children! The buzz of creativity began the second that we launched our new expedition and continued all day. It was amazing to see pupils group themselves together and work collaboratively on their own mini-projects to put towards the overall ‘Team 5/6’ effort.

What will day 2 have in store?
