Awesome coaching in maths!

6B have shown fantastic learning behaviours today when finding missing angles. They have shown great resilience and have been fantastic coaches. We have been working really hard on ensuring we don’t just give our classmates the answers when working collaboratively and we in fact question and challenge our friends’ thinking! I am so proud of their efforts and progress today! Well done 6B!

Pull up a chair!

Thanks to all the parents who made it to Parents Evening tonight. It was great to see you all and share your child’s learning so far. I look forward to seeing more parents on Wednesday.

Child Led Conferences Have Arrived

Tonight is the first of two nights this week where your children will be sharing their learning with you.  This a new way of carrying out parent’s evening meetings here at Plover School.  Your child will talk you through their learning so far and then share with you how they assess completed work using the process of critique.  This is in the form of self, peer and/or teacher critique.  I look forward to meeting with you all.

Looking Forward to the Week Ahead…

Last week went by in an absolute flash…I cannot believe we are about to begin week three of this half term already.

This week, the children will continue to learn about journalistic writing in the form of newspaper reports.  However, instead of writing factually, they will be able to let their imaginations run wild as they become reporters writing about the alien spacecraft which has  been spotted above Doncaster town centre and in its surrounding suburbs.

I’m not that old!

I had an interesting conversation with a group of my children on Friday. They wanted to know if I remember the moon landing in1969.I softly pointed out [through gritted teeth] that I was very young at that point so would not remember it however my mum might. We then discussed if any members of their families might remember it so calling all Nans and Grandads! Do you remember the 1969 Moon landing? If you do could you write some points down for your grandchildren to share in class.

Identifying features!

Fantastic collaboration this morning picking apart our WAGOLL newspaper report. We have identified the features and we are displaying them in our classrooms to help us with our writing!

The photos you’ve been waiting for…

First of all, I’d like to appologise for the delay in uploading these – technology is not a friend of mine. So, sorry.

Here are the photographs of everyone enjoying hook week.  Questions were asked that made me cast my mind back to my university degree; solar systems were produced, including one made to scale; creativity was running wild; and my classroom was quite frankly a mess!

Read theory!

Good morning, over the past few weeks, children in Year 6 have been accessing read theory and they are really enjoying it. We want to encourage them to continue to work on this at home. From next week, we will be tracking the amount of quizzes and the time they have spent on it. Prizes will be awarded!
Lets get reading!

Collaborative Coaching…

Today, we have been working in teams to solve problems on fractions of amounts.  The coaches in each group were able to support their crew members and help them solve some very complicated challenges.  It really was fascinating to observe everyone making sure everyone else achieved success.
