Please ensure your child brings their PE kit to school everyday where possible. Please also read with your child for a minimum of 5 minutes everyday. I can tell which children have been reading as I have seen amazing progress in their reading AND writing skills! Make sure you keep a record of reading in our new reading records, it would be super helpful if you could jot down how many minutes too.
Well done to those of you who are doing lots of learning at home it really does make a huge difference, I will be making sure to send out homework once a week and will be giving crew coins to those who complete it!
Amazing day again today 2B. I’ve heard lots of children telling each other to ‘not give up’ and that’s exactly the attitude we strive for here at Plover, keep it up!

Congratulations to Ralph for working hard with his phonics and reading.
Children have been exploring different groups of animals in expedition and sorting them by their characteristics! #LovePlover
Busy day and busy weekend for some!
1M have had an absolutely fantastic day on the whole, full of learning and celebration!
Shout out to Bobby and Atlas for continuing their expedition learning at home over the weekend. They have created sea creatures with recyclable materials! This will immerse our classroom even more.

Congratulations to Demi who won our 1M superstar of the week trophy – for being creative and her outstanding drawings!

Year 1 enjoyed learning the basics of hockey in PE and we put an under the sea theme on our games.

In maths children learnt about the time on a analogue clock – half past and o’clock.

On Friday we became producers, actors/actresses and directors! We decided we wanted to make our message loud and clear so we hope you like our video. I would definitely call Hook Week a success because I can’t stop talking about our expedition topic.
I want to praise all of 2B for their hard work this morning, we did a lot of writing and some self critique this afternoon with Mrs Keir. Just like Austin with his butterfly, it is important we look like scientists at our work and if we have to edit it and make changes to make it beautiful, then we must! I’ve seen a huge improvement in your attitudes this term. We are not allowed to give up, no matter how tricky the work is – we can do this together 2B!
See you all tomorrow.

Good evening Year 1
Mr Meade and Miss Newton hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
Just a couple reminders we would like you all to get into a good habit of:
1. PE is Monday and Friday – bring PE kit bag on Monday and take it home on a Friday! PE kit = white t-shirt, dark jumper/hoody, dark shorts, dark joggers, different pair of trainers, NO earrings!
2. Bring plastic book bag everyday, to keep record of reading minutes and to put letters in – books to be changed Monday and Thursday!
Thank you Year 1 🙂

Self-Critque = Astonishing Artwork ✏🖼🐟🐡🐠
I am simply blown away! The quality of these drawings 1M have independently produced, simply from self and peer critique is superb! Check the progress from the three drafts to their fourth and final fish – the children have thoroughly followed ‘Austin’s Butterfly method on critique!’
Great work 1M 10 Crew coins each.

We have had a great week in 2P.
The children have used origami to create dolphins for the learning environment.

The children critiqued their artwork, explaining clearly what we needed to improve, the perseverance the children showed was amazing. Â Some completed 5 sketches, making improvements all the time. Showing resilience and a pride in their work.

The children also thought carefully about our hook week activities and wrote their notices and praises.

A truly super start to the new term.
We are now really excited to learn more about out new expedition.

Hello KS1 parents/carers!
Please could you let your crew lead know if you require a school packed lunch for our trip to The Deep on Friday 14th January. The options will be cheese, tuna and ham. We need to know before tomorrow lunch time.
Also you must have paid for the trip by lunchtime tomorrow via parent pay.
Thank-you!
KS1 team.
1M have been developing their critique skills and making improvements to their artwork! Draft 1 by scratch, draft 2 after having a visual aid, draft 3 after self-critique … the progress is awesome! #LovePlover
