Africa!

This week F2 have been getting very excited about our imaginary trip to Africa. We have started packing our cases in preparation, throwing out our welly boots and winter hats and packing our sun-cream and binoculars. I wonder who or what we might meet on our travels?

Please remember to return the consent form for the Yorkshire Wildlife Park visit and make a payment for the African Drumming Workshop on ParentPay if you haven’t already done so. Thanks!

Where in the world?

This week F2 have started to think about what it would be like to live somewhere else in the world. We looked at the world map and talked about where some of our families live. We found England first.

We then talked about how far away some places are from Doncaster and how we could travel to these places. Rebecca works for Virgin Atlantic as Cabin Crew and she came to talk to us about travelling on an aeroplane. We made the role play into an aeroplane and have enjoyed pretending to be pilots, cabin crew and passengers.

We have also enjoyed building aeroplanes and playing with them in small world.

Next week we get ready for going on a journey to Africa. What will we need to pack? How will we get there? What will we see? Will the people live the same as we do?

Well done!

All of the new children and our previous early starters have settled in at the beginning of this term wonderfully. They are playing together and helping each other during the session. We have some very independent children with regards to toiletting, putting on shoes and coats. They have been confident when separating from their carers and happy to be joining us at school!

Does everybody live like me?

We went for a walk around the local area yesterday. We looked at the different buildings and then talked about whether the buildings are the same or different to where we live.

Some of us have painted pictures of the buildings.

Tomorrow we are making models of houses and other buildings (Thursday).

An excellent first day

What a lovely first day. The children came into school ready to start their learning. Some were nervous but soon settled. We have started to learn to use critique – I notice, I praise, I wonder. Everyone had school dinner and it was great to hear lots of pleases and thank yous. The highlight of the afternoon was playing with remote control cars. The children designed races for them and some discovered that if you kept going backwards you made a circle.

Lots of tired children at the end of the day, but lots of play and learning inside and outside with new friends being made.

Street dance is cool!

“Street dance is cool!”

F2 had the opportunity to work with Miss Kirsty today to learn about Street dance. Both classes performed a dance routine which incorporated several moves. Mrs Fiedor and Mrs Hill from the office came to watch, as did Mrs Ogle and Mrs Barras. They were very impressed and it made everyone happy.

Foundation One Stay And Play Sessions!

During transition week in Foundation One, we held our “Stay and Play” sessions, for the children and their parents who will be joining us in September 2019. Thank you to everyone who attended, it was wonderful to meet you all. Well done to our present Foundation One children who played with them and made everyone feel very welcome.

Sport’s Day practice

We have been practicing for Sport’s day. The children are getting better at staying in their own lane as well as not holding the egg on the spoon! Another practice tomorrow and we should be ready for Monday.

The children continue to make new friends and are following new routines.

First day in F2

What an excellent start to F2. Children have started to make new friends and have played in the new areas of provision. They have also drawn pictures of themselves and have started to learn about critique using “I notice, I praise and I wonder”.

There were lots of happy faces in the dinner hall as morning nursery children had school dinner with their families. I think the parents enjoyed the chocolate concrete with custard the most!
