Romans school trip 🏛️🛡️

4B have had an amazing day learning all about the Romans at the Danum gallery, library and museum. We have engaged in different activities with real life Roman artefacts in our Romans workshop. We also had some time to explore the museum and art gallery. The children have learnt lots and behaved fabulously. They should all be incredibly proud! Well done 4B!

Family learning 🏛️🛡️🎨

Tomorrow is LKS2 family learning for year 3 and 4 which will start at 1:30 and finish at around 3. Family members are to sign in at the office and will join the children in completing different activities set up across the four classrooms. Also if you could bring in any spare cardboard to use to make Roman shields, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Year 3&4 team

Reminders for the week❔💭

Just a few reminders for Hook week:

Tomorrow is our school trip to the Danum museum and art gallery. Children will need to come in normal school uniform, bring a pack lunch (unless they have requested a school one) and have suitable footwear as we will be walking to the destination. Sun cream and hats would also be beneficial to take due to the current hot weather.

The payment of £14 covers the costs of the school trip to the museum to learn about the Romans tomorrow (£7) and an expert coming into school to deliver a day-long workshop about the Romans on Friday (£7). Those who haven’t brought in consent forms or paid on parent pay, can that be done as soon as possible. Ideally, payment should be made by tomorrow, however, we are aware that there are some circumstances where that might not be possible. Therefore, payment at a later date is acceptable as long as the amount is eventually paid. It’s really important that the costs of school trips are covered as the schools budget is limited. Lack of payments could impact on future activities for the children and it would be a shame for them to miss out.

Because of the school trip this week, we will be having PE on Wednesday. PE for year 4 will usually be every Tuesday and children can come to school in their PE kits for that day.

I hope that this provides some clarity.

Roman quest day! 🪝🏛️

What a fun and engaging start to Hook week! 4B have experienced a Roman quest day. We have discovered our guiding question, “Coming to Doncaster; why then, why now?”, and have worked as a team to solve different challenges to learn all about the Romans. Well done to everyone who took part, you were brilliant!

For this week only, Y4 will be doing PE on Wednesday. After this week, Y4 will have PE every Tuesday.

Austerfield team building day

What a great day Year 4 had at Austerfield…so many different things learnt about ourselves in fun and engaging ways. Here’s a few snaps from the day. Keep an eye out for the video which should be ready over the weekend – my technical skills have failed me so sorry for the delay.

Colour fun run! 🎨

Year 4 had a brilliant time doing their colour fun run. Well done to all of the children who contributed and especially those who raised money from their sponsorships. What a colourful end to the day!

Year 3 and 4 Field Trip next week

Just a reminder that Year 4 are visiting the Danum Museum and Art Gallery on Tuesday 5th September to take part in a Roman Workshop and will be taking part in a Roman Experience Workshop in school on Friday 8th September.

Year 3 are taking part in the Roman Experience workshop IN SCHOOL on Thursday 7th September and will be visiting the Danum Museum and Art Gallery to take part in a Roman Workshop on Friday 8th September.

The cost for both activities is £14.

Unfortunately, we are unable to fund the activities as a school, and if we do not have enough payments we will have to cancel the trip.

Please speak to your class teacher or Mrs Graves asap if there are any difficulties with this payment, as we would like every child to be able to go on the trip.
