Over the Summer holidays, children have been invited to write a short story. The competition has been set up with Good Housekeeping Magazine in collaboration with the National Literacy Trust.
To enter, parents or guardians need to submit their child’s story on the theme of Christmas. This is a chance for children to let their creativity run wild and come up with something really original and exciting.
The competition is split into four age categories: seven and under, eight to 10-year-olds, 11 to 13-year-olds and 14 to 16-year-olds. Those aged seven and under are invited to send in a drawing and a few sentences, while those in the other three categories can submit up to 500 words on a Christmas theme of their choice. Each age category will be considered separately by our panel of judges, who will be looking for the most creative entries in each group. Winning stories will be published in the December 2023 issue of Good Housekeeping and each category winner will also receive £100 worth of book tokens.
What to send: Send us your child’s story of no more than 500 words (this can include a drawing if your child is seven or under) on the theme of Christmas. Please include the name of the parent or guardian, the name and date of birth of the child, the age category being entered and a mobile or daytime contact number for the parent or guardian.
Send your entry here: [email protected] by 31 August 2023. In the email, please include the following information:
I am so proud of Alfie and Ashton who gave up their Sunday along with their families to hold a car boot sale to raise funds for our leavers celebrations. How amazing of them! They raised an amazing £105! Thank you so much boys!

The entire school was treated to an ice cream as a reward for improved attendance this year! Our challenge is to improve it even more next year. This also came at the perfect time as this week has been well-being week and it certainly put lots of smiles on their faces!

We are so proud of our 5/6’s! They created a stunning montage of individual sketches of different photographs that have influenced our future. We are so excited to see our final image up at Keepmoat stadium very soon!

First of all I would like to thank all parents and carers for supporting this residential. We are determined to create experiences to help shape our children’s character growth and give them special memories to last a lifetime. Without your support it would be impossible for exciting field work like this to go ahead!
Itinerary
Children must be in school on Thursday 13th July at 8:15. This gives us plenty of time to register and check everyone has everything before a prompt departure at 9am.
We will eat lunch on the coach (children must bring their own packed lunch). We will arrive at 1pm. We will start our trip with a London river cruise followed by an evening meal at Hard Rock cafe. We will then watch Wicked the musical (I will provide drinks and snacks so please don’t worry about them during the performance ) and we will then make our way to the hotel for the evening.
We will start our second day with an all you can eat breakfast before heading to Legoland. We will provide lunches at Lego land. We are also providing children with a McDonald’s tea on the way home. We aim to arrive home at 6pm.
Children will need sun cream, a sun hat and a water bottle.
We encourage them to wear comfy clothes and shoes as there will be lots of walking! Unfortunately, there will be no time to change when we go to the theatre.
Any further questions please pop to see me or drop me an email.
