Magna Field Trip

We are looking forward to our field trip to Magna today.

Please arrive in school promptly at the normal time of 8:45, we will be setting off at 9am.

Please wear sensible, comfortable shoes or trainers , as there will be quite a lot of walking and going up and down stairs.

Please bring a coat as it can be very cold inside the old building, even when it warm outside. There is also a chance you might get a little bit wet in the water zone.

Please remember your packed lunch and a drink. Lunches will be safely stored and will not have to be carried around.

Remember we will be returning to school for 4pm.

See you all soon,

Mrs Graves

Sports for Champions – Fundraising Challenge

We have launched our Sports for Challenge fundraising campaign this week, to promote physical activity and exercise, healthy active lifestyles and working hard to become a champion!

Children from F2-Y6 have all been given a fundraising form, the challenge is for children to raise as little or large of an amount over the next 5 weeks! Then if we meet our fundraising target, all the children will enjoy meeting and exercising with a World Class Athlete after half term! The benefit of the fundraising will allow the school to purchase some fantastic sports equipment throughout school!

Forms and money to be brought in w/c 22nd May. Prizes will be given to the child in every year group who raises the most money!

LKS2 – I will survive! Our first hook day

Shock news!

Last week, Plover School was unfortunate enough to be hit by freak weather conditions. A localised tornado, earthquake and volcanic eruption occurred on the school playground, just outside the Year 3 and 4 classrooms. Fortunately, Ms Trindall and Mr Taylor were quickly on site and able to clear up the mess. Sadly, there was no time to clear the classrooms, so year 3 and 4 children were greeted with a bit of a unusual situation when they arrived in school this morning!

In view of the strange events, the LKS2 staff team, felt it necessary to prepare the children in case a similar situation reoccured.

As a result, LKS2 children spent the day completing various challenges to see if they could SURVIVE!

It was a great way of getting hooked into our Summer term expedition: “Earth Shattering Events; what happens when nature strikes” and we can’t wait to find out where our learning will take us.

See class blogs for more information and photos.

What on earth has happened here?

The classroom was a little bit upside down when we arrived in school today, because of the weird weather events last week. Fortunately, we worked well as a crew and got it all put back quickly, ready to start our SURVIVAL day!

We took part in different activities:

  • Night line trained us to give clear instructions to each other, in case of emergency.
  • Commando Joe helped us work together as crew
  • Shelter building helped us consider the importance of staying warm and dry
  • Floor is lava developed our agility and balance
  • Fire Building helped us to learn how to be safe if needing an emergency fire.

The day was great and there were lots of tired but happy children at the end of it, all excited to find out where our new expedition: “Earth Shattering Events; what happens when nature strikes?” will take us!

Books, bodies and burps! A week in 4G

We have had a great week, learning about the digestive system.

We kicked off Wednesday with a demonstration of how food is digested using biscuits, tights and water. Once we had finished saying ‘urghhh’, we got on with the real science stuff about how the different parts of the digestive system work. We read a great book about children that got trapped inside the digestive system and then we began labelling and explaining the digestive system on an interactive app called Seesaw.

On Thursday we celebrated World Book day in style with wonderful costumes and great activities. We learnt how to draw this year’s book characters and shared a book called Bloom. In the afternoon we had great fun having an online quiz about books.

I’m really proud of how hard every one has been working this week , keep it up guys!
