We are working hard!

3H have blown me away today – they have worked so hard and most of us have led our learning at some point across the course of the day too. Maths entry and exit tickets, expeditionary research and biography writing were all happening at the same time today. It ran like clockwork thanks to the hard work of all pupils. Well done guys, I’m one happy teacher this evening!

We are working as mathematicians!

Finding 100 more and 100 less has pushed some of us out of our comfort zones. Then Alex and Lucas used the manipluatives to model the numbers to others who needed help and, by jove, we’re getting there now. Great job boys! Being kind, getting smart and working hard all-in-one…you superstars!

Pride of Plover Winner

Poppy is wearing the yellow t-shirt with pride this week. What a superstar she is! She works so hard every day, she is extremely kind to everyone around her and if she ever finds something a bit of a challenge, she will find her own way of solving the problem. Well done to Poppy!

Crew Superstars !

What an amazing week it has been in Crew Abbiss this week! We have been thinking about the best way to work hard, get smart and be kind as a Crew. All children have worked together and helped each other to be the best that they can be. Fantastic team work year 3, you are all superstars!!

We are trying to read 1,000,000 words!

Every afternoon, we set aside time to read and quiz on the books we have read. We are trying so hard to read our books very carefully, making sure we understand what we have read too. Please encourage your children to read at home as often as possible and aloud to someone too!

Keep reading and quizzing guys but remember to take care. It’s important to understand and pass those quizzes!

We are marvellous mathematicians!

Counting in 8s has been challenging for many of us this week but we have grappled and worked through it together. There were some very proud pupils by the end of today’s maths lesson and two very proud adults! Additional shout out to Alex for getting smart and using resources from around the room.

Well done everyone!

Mrs Haycock and Miss Millington.

Sharing Stories of World War Two

Today we were lucky to have two very special visitors to Plover.

Roger and his sister Carroll came to tell us about their family’s experience of World War Two. Roger wasn’t born until after the war, but he has written about his Dad’s life, which involved fighting in the Queen’s Own Yorkshire Dragoons in the war. They even brought in a flag that their dad took from a German tank.

Carroll was only three when war broke out, but she told us so many stories about what it was like growing up during the war. She went to the nearby Intake Primary school and has memories of bomb shelters and taking drinks to Italian prisoners of war on the racecourse.

We all learnt something today, and we can’t wait to start turning their stories into our book.

We look forward to seeing them again at our celebration.

If you have any family stories of World War Two, we would love to hear them – please let your teacher know.
