World Book Day will be celebrated on 2nd March 2023. Children are invited to dress up if they wold like to as their favourite book character. Please do not feel any pressure to buy costumes (children can wear uniform as normal if they wish). Children are also welcome to make a badge, wear a themed t-shirt or make an accessory from their favourite story or that their favourite character uses! We will celebrate as a school throughout the day and all children will receive the ÂŁ1 book token that they can exchange for a World Book Day special edition book, which are available to buy in local bookshops and supermarkets.
Please take a look at the amazing competition detailed below as part of World Book Day!
World Book Day® is helping to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon with a truly magical prize. One lucky winner will have the change to go on a 3-day family trip to Soltau in Germany to stay at Heide Park, the theme park that is home to an entire land based around How to Train Your Dragon. https://www.worldbookday.com/howtotrainyourdragon/
The children had a great time showing off their wacky hairstyles today, they loved their treat for winning the crew with the best attendance, homework and reading totals. Keep it up Crew Lewis, I wonder what we will win next time!
Hi Crew Jobber. As part of our Crew rewards, for great attendance, homework, howls and reading, Crew Jobber have won a NON-UNFORM day. Well done Crew Jobber!
This will be on Friday 10th February. Children in Crew Jobber may come to school in any clothes they choose for this day!
Any questions please speak to the team. This only applies to the following children in Crew Jobber:
We have had a really productive day of beautiful learning. We have explored what a riddle is and then challenged ourselves to find answers on a riddle hunt. After, we used different sentence types to write riddles of our own. Our favourite healthy snack was the inspiration! We then drew and painted our fruit for a final piece of beautiful work. As well as this, we have explored word problems using division and multiplication facts for our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. It’s been very busy!
This week in Y2 we have been learning about the importance of good personal hygiene in our expedition lessons. We found out that germs can spread very easily and move from person to person, especially on our hands. The children gave each other glitter handshakes to show how easily germs can spread. We ended up with a very sparkly playground!
Thank you to all the parents who came to our first KS1 reading event this afternoon. It was lovely to see the children enjoying a book with their parents. We hope you enjoyed it.
This week the percentage of children who have recorded their reading at home is quite low.

To ensure the children continue to work hard and get smart, we have started a little competition between the crews.
Each FRIDAY the children will bring home a homework sheet. This will have a space to record their reading on and some maths and spelling homework.
The children will have until the following THURSDAY to complete the homework and return to their crew leader.
This will replace the reading logs.
The children that complete their home learning, will earn points towards a treat at the end of the term. But they can only earn points if they return their homework! Children will be able to complete this at school as well if needed, during a lunchtime club.
We understand that it is a whole family effort, so we will also be running a raffle for a parent prize. Each time a homework sheet is returned we will enter into a small prize draw.
