Climate Change

For We Care Wednesday today, we looked at how we can help to save our planet. The children came up with four fantastic pledges to help do our bit, we started straight away by turning the classroom lights off.

Spring Handwriting Competition

You produced such lovely poems when we held our Autumn handwriting competition, I thought it would be a good idea to update our display with poems that reflect the coming season – Spring.

Choose an appropriate poem from the selection attached to this blog and copy it out beautifully, using your best handwriting and presentation.

You can decorate it and use colour if you wish.

Please give completed poems to Mrs Graves by Monday 6th March.

Pancake Day

The children enjoyed celebrating pancake day today by cooking their own pancakes, drawing pancakes and threading pancakes. We spoke about what ingredients we needed to bake pancakes and how to make them, remembering that the hobs were hot! Oliver said the mix smells like popcorn and Lacey compared the look of the batter to butter.

Who Is In The Book?

Today we received a gift and a note along with some clues. We discussed why we might have these objects in our classroom, what they could be used for and who could have left them there. When we opened the present we found the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and enjoyed listening to it during crew.

World Book Day

World Book Day will be celebrated on 2nd March 2023. Children are invited to dress up if they wold like to as their favourite book character. Please do not feel any pressure to buy costumes (children can wear uniform as normal if they wish). Children are also welcome to make a badge, wear a themed t-shirt or make an accessory from their favourite story or that their favourite character uses! We will celebrate as a school throughout the day and all children will receive the £1 book token that they can exchange for a World Book Day special edition book, which are available to buy in local bookshops and supermarkets.

Please take a look at the amazing competition detailed below as part of World Book Day!

World Book Day® is helping to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon with a truly magical prize. One lucky winner will have the change to go on a 3-day family trip to Soltau in Germany to stay at Heide Park, the theme park that is home to an entire land based around How to Train Your Dragon. https://www.worldbookday.com/howtotrainyourdragon/

Home Learning

Josie and Almina have blown me away with their amazing home learning over half term! Well done girls.

Josie created a Beanstalk, linking to the book we are going to look at during Case Study 2. Josie explained how she painted her beanstalk, stuck the cotton balls on and wrapped leaves around it.

Almina created her very own book. She thought carefully about the front cover and used different pages to make it a story. Almina was both the writer and illustrator for her book, making sure she wrote text with pictures to support.

Attendance

Well done to; Jaxon, Elliot, Kamari, Ellis, Alex, Macey, Oliver, Lacey-Mae and Josie that have all had 100% this half term! There will be a prize waiting for you on the first day back after the holidays. As a crew attendance is something we have pledged to try and improve after the holidays. Let’s see if by the Easter holidays we can have even more children on 100%, and it would be great if we could have everybody in for a full week to try and earn some class cash.

Reading Rewards

Well done to all our F2 children that have read at least 4 times a week, for six weeks, this half term. They each got to choose a Mr Man book as their reward. Remember you can earn books next half term too by continuing to read lots at home! Lets see how many children can earn a book next half term.
