Today we have been working hard on our oral blending . We had to say the sound in each hoop, before blending it together to say the whole word.

Year 2 really enjoyed having a picnic on the field with the rest of the school as part of our VE Day anniversary celebrations. We listened to music from the era while we ate and showed our respect during the national anthem. It was great to be together and learn why it is important to learn from the past.

2P have been exploring the difference between human and physical geographical features. We then used what we had learnt about Amelia Earhart’s final flight around the world to match which of these features she might have seen in different parts of the world. We then went for a walk around the outside of the school to see which features were most common around the building. We discovered that there were mainly human features.

For case study 1 we have been looking at the key text, The 3 Billy Goats Gruff. After reading the story, we collaboratively created a story map, before acting it out ourselves in small groups.
The children showed great courage in acting out the roles infront of their peers.

F1 have been learning positional language through the story of the 3 Billy Goats Gruff. We then practised understanding position through words alone, without using visual prompts. Our key words were; under, on top, over, next to, behind and infront.

We had a lovely day celebrating VE Day in F1. We used repeating patterns to make flags and spoke about why we celebrate VE Day. Our 30 hour children also enjoyed a picnic on the school field for their dinner.
