Household Support Funding

The Government has provided further Household Support Funding to Local Authorities for the period October 2022 to March 2023. A single payment will replace the previous arrangement where schools issued vouchers for children on means-tested free school meals for each of the school holidays.

Please visit the website below to see if you qualify for this support.

Children In Need

This Friday (18th) we will be holding a non school uniform day in recognition of Children In Need. Children are invited to wear something yellow and/or spotty. We will also be collecting donations for this worthy charity which can be handed into your child’s class teacher.

Thank you

Lest We Forget: Plover Remembers

On Friday, LKS2 led a Remembrance Assembly to pay respects to the men, women and children who have made so many sacrifices during wartime to ensure that we can lead our lives today.

We had our own Bugler play the Last Post and then two minutes silence.

Each crew made a poppy wreath, which they added to the display – it looked very lovely.

England Rocks – Maths Week

We’re celebrating Maths Week England by taking part in a friendly times tables (and division) competition. The competition runs from 07:30 GMT Monday 14th November to 19:30 GMT Wednesday 16th November. It’s all done online via play.ttrockstars.com.

Children can play in any game mode with every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, earning themselves, their class and the school a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours, subject to a daily 60-minute limit (see below)). Winning classes in the school and in the competition as a whole will be the ones with the highest average.

To support player well-being, there is a daily time limit of 60-minutes per player. In other words, each player can earn competition points for up to 60-minutes between 07:30 GMT and 19:30 GMT on 07:30 GMT Monday 14th November to 19:30 GMT Wednesday 16th November. Once the player goes beyond 60-minutes of play on that day, they will still earn coins but will no longer earn points towards the competition.

In the spirit of the competition, please don’t play on their behalf but by all means encourage and support them to the extent that it doesn’t cause high stress levels or impact on family plans.

Roots of Empathy

After completing my 3 days of training to become a Roots of Empathy instructor; I’m super excited to bring this programme to school this year. The programme aims to increase empathy – the ability to understand how another person feels, care for and respect each other and reduces aggression. This is taught through 9 bespoke topics with a baby as a teacher.

We are looking to recruit a baby aged between 2 – 4 months old who could commit to 9 monthly visits to school where the children will learn and watch baby grow and develop. If you would be interested please contact Miss Lister either through visiting the school office or email: [email protected] for further information.
