Compassion in 4B

On the third day of Crew Week, the class completed some activities to demonstrate the character trait: compassion. We took part in the colour run to raise funds for the school as well as our charity the RSPCA. We also completed a kindness chain to display the kind acts we have done some far this year which we will hopefully add to as the year progresses. Finally, we decorated our own baby egg which we had to show compassion and care for to make sure it didn’t crack.

Well done 4B, we have shown what a kind and compassionate class we can be!

Pizza making workshop!

Some children from Year 5 & 6 were able to engage in a pizza making workshop at Pizza Express. They each made a margarita pizza through the guidance of Adrian the pizza maker. The children really enjoyed the workshop and getting to eat the pizzas. To spread kindness, some of the pizzas were shared with staff at XP to thank them for their hard work organising the arts festival and then to Plover staff to thank them for their hard work too!

Enjoy the video!

We Care Wednesday in F2BP

We had our first ‘We Care Wednesday’ Crew session today. We checked in by sharing something we enjoy doing at school. After that we discussed what makes a nice classroom and what we expect people to do every day, every session, to make our classroom the best place and feeling it can be. We all agreed we ALL need to use kind voices and to listen to those kind voices. We also need to use kind hands and feet. We agreed to try our best all the time and to look after the lovely things that school provide for us. There were lots more! Maybe the children could tell you them? We call them our ‘Class Norms’. Mrs Bubb has written them all down for us to keep looking at to remind us of our shared responsibility. #wearecrew #loveplover

Races in F2

The children enjoyed doing different races in outdoor provision and it was great to see the children continue and make up their own races! #LovePlover

The Great Kapok Tree

This week, Year 5 have been diving into The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. The story, set in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, sparked some fantastic discussions about nature, conservation, and the importance of every creature in an ecosystem.

Inspired by the book, the children created their very own kapok trees. They worked carefully to bring the rainforest to life through their artwork, using bright colours and imaginative detail to make their trees unique and vibrant.

The children showed their character trait of quality and craftsmanship throughout the project. Each piece was produced with real care, attention, and creativity – and the results were stunning!

Well done, Year 5 – your kapok trees are a true celebration of both art and storytelling.

Hand washing – keeping our bodies healthy!

Today we have learnt how to keep our bodies healthy, by learning to wash our hands. We used glitter to represent germs and practised washing our hands thoroughly using soap. We noticed that if you just dip your hands in the water the germs don’t come off, you need to soap to wash them properly.

We learnt the song “wash wash wash our hands, wash our hands all day. Wash wash wash our hands, wash the germs away”.
