Making maps

In expedition this morning we looked at different maps. We looked at Intake and added the places that we know onto it ready for our learning on Thursday. The children were really excited about maps and created different ones in provision including lots of pirate maps.

A superstar

Lily has been amazing today. She has been sitting on the carpet and has been using her voice. She followed instructions to get her coat too. Well done Lily. You have been a superstar.

Treasure Hunt

To kick off hook week we took part in a treasure hunt. This week we are focussing on maps and we followed clues to find the map. We took turns to read the clues and then Kyla found the map in the tree. We then looked at the book Martha Maps it out and found out that there are lots of different kinds of maps.

Pretend shopping

Today we have been learning about money. We talked about how much things cost and ifwe had enough money to buy what we wanted. The children took turns being the customer and the shop keeper.

Happy Easter!

We have had another great term of our children working really hard in their learning expeditions and producing beautiful work.

We have finished with Aspiration Week and welcomed many visitors into school to talk about the job they do and how they got to where they are today. Thank you to all of our visitors who have inspired our children to work even harder and follow their dreams.

Well done to all of our children who entered the Easter bonnet and egg decorating competition. All of the entries were fantastic. A few can be seen below.

Finally, thank you as always for your continued support. We wish you all a lovely Easter and will see you back at school on Monday 17th April.

Celebration of Learning

We had an amazing celebration with so many pupils and grown ups. It was amazing to see the hall so full! Children were busy sharing their books, their learning and their knowledge from our latest expedition. There was the opportunity to show off art and craft skills as well as very loud percussion playing! Strangely, there was also a very big queue at the pancake station! There were lots of smiling faces and busy people! Thank you to everyone for joining us.

Aspirations Galore!

In Year 2, we have been thinking about what aspirations means. We have learnt that it could be a personal challenge that you set yourself (like running a marathon) or the job you wish to have when you are older. To inspire the children, we have had visitors from different professions to share what their job is and how they reached their goals. We had visitors from Airline Pilots, Cruise Ship Directors, and illustrator and a Nurse. The children were in awe!

We have also learnt where our money comes from and the difference between spending, saving and selling. The children have been introduced to the idea of ‘saving for a rainy day’ and how difficult unplanned spending can be. We have some budding financial experts on our hands!

It has been a truly inspiring week!
