Making boats

Continuing the theme of adding to provision the children made small boats for small-world play. They problem-solved, asked questions and tested their boats to see if they moved. They had lots of fun. They have taken them home to sail which means we now need to make more to play with in school!. Parents will be able to see the pictures on Evidence Me.

Pride Of Plover

This week our Pride Of Plover badges have gone to Ali and Sylas, well done boys!

Ali has done absolutely amazing with his toilet training this week, and has settled really well back into school routines.

Sylas has shown a huge improvement in his attention and a listening this week and has been kind to his peers. Keep it up.

Computing in Y6

6B had a really productive morning learning how to code in computing. The children really enjoyed experimenting to see what they could make their characters do. They also learnt how to create different backdrops and make their characters move across the screen. Well done 6B!

Hook, line and sinker!

Hook week has been wonderful! We are so excited to learn more about what happens where the sea meets the shore. This week has been spent immersing our classroom together and doing a treasure hunt to find clues about our Expedition: Early Explorers!

Mother and baby visit

As part of our settling in week, we have been learning about how we grow and change. We have looked at pictures of ourselves as a baby, and then Skyla’s mum and dad very kindly brought her baby sister to visit us. We asked lots of questions to find out things such as how babies move and what they eat.

Listening Walk

Today in 2L , the children made themselves an extra pair of listening ears and we went on a listening walk to find out what we could hear in school. We crept around and heard all sorts of sounds including cutlery clattering in the hall, birds tweeting outside, doors banging and the jazzy music coming from Y6. The children were really quiet and were shocked by what they could hear when they really tried to concentrate.

We are going to turn these noises into expanded noun phrases and write our very our sound poem. We’ll make sure to blog our final work.

Where is the treasure?

The children were hooked into their new expedition today by going on a treasure hunt. Inside the treasure box were clues to their new expedition about the seaside.
