5L PE

Y5 have been practising their dance skills this term in PE. This week they used these skills to put their own dance together.

F2P Big talk

The children were fantastic in their Big Talk session today. They remembered how to keep their bodies safe and they listened really well as Deb shared information with them.

Planting Seeds

This week we have been learning about how plants grow and change. We have planted some sunflower seeds and cress seeds, and discussed what these need to help them grow. We are very excited to start seeing our seeds shoot up over the next week or two. Outside in provision, we also planted some beautiful flowers in the planters.

Maths outside

This week we have been learning about the composition of numbers and today we have been making 7 in different ways. The children used Nuimicon and cubes as part of their indoor learning.

During outdoor play they played a game with a hoop and 7 bean bags. They had to say how many were in or out of the hoop and the equation that matched. They were very competitive!

Final Product

We practised drawing our gingerbread men and decided how we wanted to decorate them. We thought carefully about what body parts we needed to draw for our gingerbread man and how we could use the sweets/chocolates as buttons and eyes.

Following our plan, we then decorated our gingerbread men that we baked. We used coloured icing drawn details, and as glue to get the toppings to stick.

Book Fair is here!

Hooray! The Scholastic Book Fair has arrived!

There is a fabulous selection of books to choose from, suitable for all age ranges.

The book fair is open after school and we would prefer you to pay contactless (there is a QR code that you can use to pay). Children can use their World Book Day voucher for £1 off any book priced £3.99 or more.

This is a great way to support our school, as every purchase contributes to books for school.

Thank you for your support.

Baking Our Final Product

This week we have been following instructions to help us bake gingerbread men, for our final product. We enjoyed mixing the ingredients together and kneading it to make a dough. Then we rolled out the dough and used the cutter to create the shape of our biscuit.

3GS Peaceful Protest

For our family learning, we produced banners to inspire action around climate, joined our Year 3 and 4 classmates, then took to the streets in protest.

Well done everyone – your activism will inspire others.

3SG World Book Day

It was lovely to see all the costumes on Thursday for World Book Day – I like to see how many books characters I can guess.

In 3GS, we enjoyed drawing some of the characters from the World Book Day £1 books. Phil Shepherd gave us some great tips and we produce some very good pictures.

In the afternoon, we watched with pride as Atlas represented our class in the Danum Read Aloud competition school final – he did very well, but was pipped to the post by Johnny in Year 5.

We all got our book tokens at the end of the day that we can spend in bookshops to buy the £1 book, or to have money off another book. We can also spend them at the school book fair starting on 14th March.
