More marvellous maths!

6B really are working their socks off! I am so impressed with how much they are challenging themselves to achieve gold/green in their learning. Maths has been tricky this week but we have persevered and shown great resilience and we’ve smashed it! Well done superstars!

Awesome Amez!

This superstar has blown me away in maths today. His reasoning has been spot on and he has been a fantastic learning coach to his peers! Well done for working hard Amez! This lesson you have definitely demonstrated a 4 in your HOWLs!

Super summarisers!

Today 6B have been super summarisers in their English lessons. We read a fantastic article all about Colonel Tom Moore. We then discussed it before summarising it in our collaborative groups. I am so impressed with how well the children worked and they have been working really hard at reading around the text to check for meaning when they face unfamiliar words, then checking their answers with a dictionary. Keep up the hard work superstars!

What does a 4 look like in our HOWLs?

Today in crew, 6B unpicked our howls and we focussed on what a 4 looks like. We don’t just want to settle with a 3! We participated in a silent discussion and then feedback and thoughts and ideas. We looked at working hard, being kind and getting smart. We have now created a WAGOLL bank of scenarios and examples to display in our classroom to help to remind us what we can do to achieve all 4’s! We can do it 6B!

Another super tank!

Coby, Johno and Chriso have done a fabulous job at creating another tank for our classroom in hook week last week! I have a very creative bunch!

Super work in our place value lesson!

Super work in maths in 6B this morning! I am so proud of each and every one of you! I have definitely seen children working hard, being kind and getting smart! A huge appreciation to everyone who is accessing the additional learning on google classrooms in order to get ahead in your learning! Please keep it up superstars!

Please keep your war stories and photos coming in!

Wow! A huge appreciation for Craig who very kindly brought in his relative’s belongings to share. The tin in the bottom left corner saved Craig’s great uncle’s life! He was shot and the tin acted as armour and the bullet wedged in the tin opposed to his chest! What a fabulous story to share! Thank you so much Craig and family and for the lovely photos too!

More gorgeous work from last week!

Last week Year 6 were well and truly immersed into our new Expedition- WWII: what is Doncaster’s story? We transformed our classroom and added a tank and an aeroplane. We have filled our corridors with poppies and the names of fallen Doncaster soldiers; we have created evacuee suitcases to place around our rooms and labelled them with evacuee names who were sent to Doncaster. We have also created Blitz art work and we are just starting our first book of the term, ‘Goodnight Mr Tom!’ It’s all very exciting and we can’t wait to learn about the causes of War this week and how they impacted Doncaster! Keep an eye on our blog to see what we get up to!

We love our new expedition!

More photos of my superstars during hook week! We are so excited to be learning about WWII! Please check in with your little historians to ask them what we have been learning about!
