We have been mastering ‘one less’. We used lots of manipulatives to build a number and take one away to show one less. We spoke in sentences: “One less than…..is….”. Maybe you can use things at home to let them show you?

Learning to use manipulatives in maths

1M Mathematicians
Well done to Riley for winning a Plover Praise postcard for working hard on his writing and for doing great counting.
1M children were great at counting within 10 and representing this with manipulatives.
Then in read the children were acting out their shared reader “On The Train to Troon” #LovePlover

Maths fun with lego
On Tuesday 3LS were set the challenge to find square numbers using only lego! They used their knowledge of times tables and found lots of square numbers. Well done! I wonder how many other times tables you could represent with lego? Could you make the 7 or 8 times tables?

Multiplication Investigations
Today 3LS have been using their knowledge of multiplication to investigate and solve word problems. How many people could share a pack of 12 biscuits? How many bikes or tricycles could there be if there are 24 wheels in total? I wonder how many possible answers you can find? Why not test your multiplication skills on mathsframe.com
