The children looked brilliant in their world book day costumes and we enjoyed listening to lots of stories today! Thank you Catherine from the Literacy Hub who very kindly gave us all a brand new book and read wonderful classic story. We then got to pick a book from the book shop and was given a £1 book voucher. #LovePlover

F2BP World Book Day
We had a wonderful day for World Book Day. Thank you to Catherine from the Literacy Trust for sharing the Gruffalo story with us and for the books that the children were able to take home. We played character guessing games, made pictures of our costumes for other people to guess and even went to the book store in school to choose our books.
Thank you also to our families for the wonderful costumes.

F1 World Book Day
Happy world book day 2025! We have loved seeing all of your gorgeous costumes today and have had a great time sharing stories with the National Literacy Trust. Every child will be fetching home a copy of The Gruffalo, for them to keep, as part of our experience with the National Literacy Trust.

Following instructions
In English this week Year 2 have been busy reading instructions, following instructions and identifying the features of instructions. Today the children followed instructions and made a sun catchers. They look fantastic and really brighten up our classroom. Well done everyone, you did a great job!

Year 5 and 6: Pride of Plover, TTRS and Readers
Well done to our hard-working, smart and kind pupils who received this week’s Pride of Plover awards.
A big well done, also, to those in receipt of Times Table Rockstars and Reading Plus level awards – great to see such dedication to improving your learning!
Crew Schofield Review Books
Crew Schofield selected some of their favourite titles to begin designing book review posters.
It was great to see you collaboratively decide upon which books to review, then considering summaries and your favourite parts of each story, encouraging future readers to pick up a book!
We can use a thesaurus!
Years 3 and 4 have been playing around with the story ‘Funny Bones’ today. We noticed there was a lot of repetition in the book so decided to re-write a section of it. The word ‘dark’ was banned though, so we had to find as many synonyms for this word as possible!
Keep thinking about different ways to say the same thing. That way, your writing will become so much more exciting and your understanding of vocabulary will soar!
