F1 World Book Day

Happy world book day 2025! We have loved seeing all of your gorgeous costumes today and have had a great time sharing stories with the National Literacy Trust. Every child will be fetching home a copy of The Gruffalo, for them to keep, as part of our experience with the National Literacy Trust.

Wonderful Readers!

A massive well done to our super engaged readers who have reached new heights in their reading plus this week – keep working hard!

Read and Relax

After an exciting session preparing for World Book Day, Crew Schofield relaxed with their friends and a favourite book this Wednesday.

Following instructions

In English this week Year 2 have been busy reading instructions, following instructions and identifying the features of instructions. Today the children followed instructions and made a sun catchers. They look fantastic and really brighten up our classroom. Well done everyone, you did a great job!

Crew Schofield Review Books

Crew Schofield selected some of their favourite titles to begin designing book review posters.

It was great to see you collaboratively decide upon which books to review, then considering summaries and your favourite parts of each story, encouraging future readers to pick up a book!

We can use a thesaurus!

Years 3 and 4 have been playing around with the story ‘Funny Bones’ today. We noticed there was a lot of repetition in the book so decided to re-write a section of it. The word ‘dark’ was banned though, so we had to find as many synonyms for this word as possible!

Keep thinking about different ways to say the same thing. That way, your writing will become so much more exciting and your understanding of vocabulary will soar!

Am I an insulator or a conductor?

We have been working hard to investigate different materials; finding out if they are insulators or conductors. Then we have used our scientific knowledge to work as writers and produce a full scientific report.

Keep your curiosity growing folks and the conductors will keep the electricity flowing!

5S are in the hotseat!

Today, 5S took part in a ‘hot seating’ activity where they took on the roles of interviewer and our model of ‘courage’, war hero Ben Parkinson.

The children asked open questions to ‘Ben’ about his life, career and achievements as a veteran. It was good to see you recall your knowledge of Ben to articulate your thoughts and feelings in character – well done!
