Time to read crew- making book reviews for our friends
In time to read crew, Year 6 have been creating book reviews based on their recent reads. We have filled our new book corners with these reviews to inspire our friends to read our favourite books. Our challenge is to add a range of genres to our reviews. Once children have read a book recommended by a friend, they are going to add their own mini reviews on post it notes.
Keep reading 6B!

We’re going on a dragon hunt!
Today we went on a dragon hunt, searching for adjectives to describe a dragon. The children had a great time finding words to describe a dragon and then we used these to create our very own dragon poem.

Chapter One!
Our select group of pupils have enjoyed special tutoring to help them improve their reading throughout the year. This is done on the laptop but they never see their tutor! Our end-of-year celebration allowed the pupils to celebrate their successes and finally meet the person they had been talking to all year! Great reading from everyone!
Doncaster Reading Adventure
We have been working with Doncaster Libraries in developing this summer’s Doncaster Reading Adventure. Children can pick up the map and stickers from their local library to encourage reading for pleasure over the summer break.Â

A special guest at Snuggle and Story.
Today, Elza invited our lovely Miss Trindall to read a book to her. It was lovely to have her! Lots of children loved listening to her stories and talking about the books.

Super writers!
I am so proud of our phonics group today. They worked so hard on sitting properly, holding their pencils, sitting their letters on the lines and starting from the right place. They even spelled some words correctly and wrote them beautifully! They have been working hard and getting smart!
Doncaster Storytelling Festival
I was so proud to take the Year 5 book club to the Doncaster Storytelling Festival at the Dome on Tuesday.
We have been reading and reviewing books all this year and the Festival was the culmination of all that work.

Continue readingPreparing for our CoL (Celebration of Learning)!
We started the week in mini crews planning what we could have at our celebration of learning. We then did a gallery walk to see everyoine’s ideas. After that, we decided which posters we would need at the event and we worked in pairs to make them. We have been artists and planners and writers!
1C Recount A Trip… Through Drama!
Yesterday, 1C recounted their trip to The Deaf School using actions and signs! This helped us remember what we did in chronological order, in order to help us prepare to write up our own recounts of the day!
