Today we re told the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We discussed key vocabulary then practised the key phrases that are repeated throughout the text. It was lovely to see children continuing this in their own provision, after we had done it as a whole class.

As part of our expedition in science, we were looking at basic needs for survival!
Well done Oliver for working hard and being kind in phonics. #LovePlover
A big thank you to all the parents who supported the children on their visit to the library today. The children enjoyed visiting the library and looking at the large selection of books they have. We shared a story together in the library and it was lovely to see some families even signed up to go back!

We used the conjunction ‘and’ to connect two clauses to make silly sentences in English. #LovePlover
In our new expedition, we have started reading the Big Book of Birds. To help us remember the information that we are learning in this non-fiction text, we came up with actions to help recall the words and all the wonderful facts about parrots!
English – we looked at features of a non-fiction text and created a talk for writing story map about parrot facts!
In Maths we were understanding how to make 10.
BSL crew and some beautiful home learning from Dolunay! #LovePlover
Yesterday, in our ‘Time to read Tuesday’ crew, Year 6 discussed the names of authors they were familiar with. They decided they wanted to widen the list of names so they made a pledge to read 10 books from authors they have never heard of before by the end of Year 6. They then visited our in school library before sitting down to read. The children were so excited to read for pleasure. Every time a book is completed, we will add the author to our list of authors!

This morning, we have been joined by author and illustrator, Phil Sheppard, who has talked to us about his story writing and illustrating, as well as his research for his books all about Doncaster. We will be using Phil’s book as our model text for our first writing cycle, so we have enjoyed asking him lots of questions and learn from his expertise. We were even lucky enough to hear a little about Phil’s next project! Thank you, Phil #LovePlover
Here is a link to the digital map we have produced to reflect our community. It contains links to biographies and fact splats written by the children and about where some people in our community come from and what the Romans did for Doncaster.
We are hoping to have a physical sign positioned at the entrance to school soon.
