Year 6 have had the opportunity to bake today. But why didn’t we use eggs?
Since we are studying WW2, we thought it would be a great opportunity for them to experience what their relatives would have experienced ‘back in the day’. Without eggs and with very little sugar used, the children were asked to consider what might have been added to egg free buns to add a little flavour to them. Some great suggestions were made but we opted for carrot in the end.
They smelt delicious and I hope they taste great when we sample and review them tomorrow.
This afternoon in Expedition, we have been design technologists! We have researched rationing recipes that were used during WW2 to make cakes. We then selected the ingredients we would need before creating a method to ensure we made the perfect cake. We are then going to put them to the taste test tomorrow! Super work Year 6!
Well done to this weeks yellow T-shirt winners! I am so proud of you all as are your crews! You are all superstars who have impressed your peers and teachers this week so well done and keep it up! You are all amazing!
It was lovely to see so many children in school today wearing yellow! Here are a few of 6B who wanted to show off their yellow items on the blog!
Today, our Year 6 crew demonstrated what crew is all about in their Commando Joe session. They had to work together, not leaving anybody, behind to complete physical challenges! Awesome Year 6!

6B & 6H have also been hard at work picking apart an unseen text- an extract from ‘Carries war’. We were focusing on retrieval skills and it was great to have a discussion sharing ideas before putting pen to paper. We then looked at model answers and critiqued one another’s answers in order to improve them. I was so impressed with their thoughts and ideas! Smashing it year 6, well done!
This week, 6H & 6B worked together to support one another in the learning. Children identified if they felt they could coach a friend and then they partnered up and put their coaching skills and rounding skills to the test! I was so impressed with their learning behaviours and even Mrs Ogle commented on how well they worked! Well done to you all! I am so proud of your efforts this week!
These lovely year 5’s have blown me away with their gorgeous soldier self portraits! The attention to detail was fantastic! I am very proud of their efforts! Well done superstars!
Shout out to our 5/6 yellow T-shirt winners! Your crews are very proud of you! Keep up the hard work superstars, you are all exemplary role models and children who always work hard, get smart and are always kind!
