Propaganda posters!

6B have done a fabulous job of creating their own Propaganda posters! I am really impressed with them and they have made a fabulous addition to our learning environment! Shout to Kaycie and Maisey who have been working like superstars at home in isolation and joined in with the Propaganda posters! We miss you!

Great Maths Work!

Today, the children have shown great collaboration skills.  In maths they worked together to find as many facts as possible, related to one times table fact.  Then they were challenged to solve multi-step problems.   A shout out goes to Harry and Caris; Shang and Ruby, and Oliver and Luke who were confident to demonstrate to the class their methods on the whiteboard.  I was blown away by their awesomeness.  Well done Crew 6C.

On line reading!

We have just been looking at the new reading service we have signed up to. Your child can access it from the school website – it is the purple square at the top. When they click on it, they need to sign in using their accelerated reader log in and password. They can then choose what books they want to read.

Attendance winners = KFC dinner treat!

6B have been buzzing for their KFC treat this week! They have been the top attending class in KS2, 5 times his half-term and as a result they have won £10 a week, each week they came first! I am so proud of them and we can’t wait to save up next half-term to hopefully win ourselves a McDonalds!

We have been artists in P-Block!

We have some fabulous artists in 6B! I am blown away by the skills they have been developing this term. It was fantastic to hear their specific critique to one another’s work to help make improvements. Well done superstars!

Today we have been historians!

Today in expedition we have been historians. We analysed a range of sources about the Blitz and discussed the reliability of the sources. We looked at which sources may be biased and then shared with the rest of the class which source we thought was the most reliable and why. Awesome work 6B!

To challenge your children further, please ask your children what the word Blitz means and how long the Blitz lasted!

Awesome newspaper reports!

In English, 6B have been researching the Wellington W5557 crash on Hatfield Moors during WWII! We had a very interesting discussion about it before planning a newspaper report based on our findings. The children were so hooked in from the get go and I have been blown away by their fantastic pieces of writing! Please ask your children to tell you about the plane crash and the locations that were involved! Many of the places may be very familiar to you!

Cracking the Morse code!

We have been hard at work in Expedition today. We had a mission to crack a message from the enemy soldiers in morse code and send a message back across using an electrical circuit. We then discussed how morse code was used during the war and how we would have felt if we had that job role. What a fantastic lesson it has been and we have found out how individuals in design technology, shaped history! Please ask your children tonight about Samuel Morse and how he did just that!

A shout out to Craig who has blown me away this lesson by sharing fantastic ideas and answers and coaching his peers to push for green standard! Well done mate!
