Monday 6th July

Good morning everyone,

I hope you managed to access, complete and send off (if appropriate) your transition learning last week.

This week it is back to English learning but there is no Maths.  Instead of your Maths learning, you will see a week-long project that Miss Blackham would like you to complete.  The presentation that she would like you to create needs to be detailed and creative – try to make it some of your best work ever!  We want to share your journeys with our sister XP schools.  Your presentation needs to reflect your time at Primary school – it doesn’t matter if you have been to different primaries other than Plover either – read the slides she has put together and develop you presentation over the course of this week.  I look forward to seeing them.

Have a fab day guys,

Mrs H 🙂

Year 6 Passage presentations

Good morning Year 6, on google classrooms there are slides to support you creating your passage presentations on your time at primary school. This is a week long project as we would love to share these! Please take your time and follow the instructions 🙂

Lastly, please remember to send your photos in today to ensure you are on the leavers celebrations videos. Thank you to everyone who has shared them so far and I’m just catching up on those that have been sent in over the weekend.

Year 6 leavers celebrations

Good afternoon, just a reminder that we need photos in asap of children during their time at Plover. The photos do not have to be in uniform, just one where they are roughly 4/5 at the start of their school journey and a most recent one. We would also like videos of your children (and families if you wish to be involved) marching so we can create a Year 6 Amarillo video. If both of these requests these can be sent to [email protected] asap we can make a start on creating the videos. The deadline for both of these requests is 4pm on Monday 6th July. If you could spread the word amongst Year 6 parents- we would really appreciate it!

Thank you so much to everyone who has sent them in so far! We want to make it as special as possible for our Year 6’s!

It’s Pride of Plover Time!

Today, the Pride of Plover Award goes to someone who has had a fabulous week.

If you know you have only just returned to school this week, it could be you.

If you know that you have been working incredibly hard, it could be you.

If you know your manners have been impeccable, it could be you.

If you are not in school today, it could be you.

If you are in Key Worker Group 4, it could be you.

If you are called Charlie Jackson it IS you.  Well done Charlie.

Both Mr Whitfield and Mr Panks have been so impressed with how hard you have been working this week. They have also mentioned how impeccable your manners have been. Well done young man. Truly deserved.

Friday 3rd July

Good morning everyone,

I hope you’re all interacting with your transition work – I know Dominik is as he has been busy sending me copies of everything he has been up to – well done young man.  Such dedication!  I also know Kyren is trying really hard with his transition work too.  He produced a wonderful comic strip yesterday about his wishes for his first few days at his new school.  Well done!

Check back in half an hour to find out who has won the virtual yellow t-shirt this week.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Mrs H 🙂

Thursday 2nd July

Good morning everyone,

Well, my clock says it’s morning anyway but my eyes tell me it is bedtime.

I hope you enjoyed day one of your transition lessons yesterday, despite the few teething issues there were with access etc.  I hope everything runs a little smoother for you all today.

Please remember there is no expectation to complete learning from Plover for the next two days but come next week I expect to be hearing from you all again.

Shout out to Dominik, yet again, for sending me copies of his transition learning.

Have a great day everyone.

Mrs H 🙂

Year 6 transition info

Doncaster council’s transition team have confirmed that on the letter sent out directly to all Year 6 children that it says you must create a gmail account for children to access the school classroom and they can not use their primary school email. Therefore, you have two options when completing transition work. You can access the work directly from your child’s secondary school website and email the work to their class teachers to pass on or you must set up a gmail account and then follow the instructions on the letter.
If you have any questions or issues please email me and I’ll forward to the transition team to support you further.

Year 6 Leavers 2020

As the end of the year approaches we would like to share our plans for our Year 6 leavers celebrations. Whilst it is not the plans we all hoped for, we do hope it gives everybody the opportunity to say goodbye and share many primary school memories.

We have provisionally planned this for Wednesday the 15th July at 1:30pm. However, this is weather permitting due to it being an outdoor event.

Whilst there will be some seats available if needed, we thought it would be a nice idea to invite families to bring a picnic blanket along with some afternoon treats.  We have arranged for an ice-cream van to visit us during the event and our Year 6 children will be treated to an ice-cream.  Ice-creams will be available to buy for other family members should you wish to.

We would like the children to be able to take part in traditional shirt signing and will therefore have tables set up where they will leave their shirts. Please ensure you bring a shirt on the day if your child wishes to participate in the shirt signing. There will be tables designated for each class which will be supervised by the class teacher.  Shirts will be labelled with the child’s name so others can see whose shirt they are signing. Children will collect a pen on arrival and this will be disposed of once they have finished signing shirts. Hand sanitizer will be available at each table with children being invited a few at a time to sign the shirts whilst following a one way system.

Children will also have the opportunity to take socially distanced photographs with their friends as well as a small presentation ceremony.

As part of the preparations for the event, we would like to ask for your support by sharing any photos of your child from their first days at primary school through to Year 6.  Please can any photos be sent to [email protected] by Monday 6th July at 4pm.  Please could you also email any short videos of your child marching to the song called ‘Amarillo’. We hope to share these videos by email for you and your child to treasure forever!  Please email me by Monday 6th July should you not wish for photographs of your child to be included in the celebration and shared with others.

Finally, if any parents would like to send a video wishing their child good luck for next year, please email me too!

We look forward to seeing you at the event and if you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to contact me.

Regards, Miss Blackham
