Analysing poetry

6B have been hard at work today, picking out features in a piece of poetry. They have then created their own examples of the features. Ask your children to give you examples of metaphors, onomatopoeia, figurative language, emotive langue and similes! You’ll be very impressed!

Jenson is a star!

Jenson has been a superstar this week and he is the first winner in 6B of the Plover praise postcard! He has pushed himself to achieves his MEs. He has coached his friends and he’s done it all with a smile on his face! We are so proud of you Jens! Keep up the good work!

Black out poetry!

6B have created some gorgeous black out poetry this morning to hook them into our new poetry cycle! I have really enjoyed reading their creative pieces! Ask your children what they titled their poems!

Propaganda posters!

6B have done a fabulous job of creating their own Propaganda posters! I am really impressed with them and they have made a fabulous addition to our learning environment! Shout to Kaycie and Maisey who have been working like superstars at home in isolation and joined in with the Propaganda posters! We miss you!

Attendance winners = KFC dinner treat!

6B have been buzzing for their KFC treat this week! They have been the top attending class in KS2, 5 times his half-term and as a result they have won £10 a week, each week they came first! I am so proud of them and we can’t wait to save up next half-term to hopefully win ourselves a McDonalds!

We have been artists in P-Block!

We have some fabulous artists in 6B! I am blown away by the skills they have been developing this term. It was fantastic to hear their specific critique to one another’s work to help make improvements. Well done superstars!

Today we have been historians!

Today in expedition we have been historians. We analysed a range of sources about the Blitz and discussed the reliability of the sources. We looked at which sources may be biased and then shared with the rest of the class which source we thought was the most reliable and why. Awesome work 6B!

To challenge your children further, please ask your children what the word Blitz means and how long the Blitz lasted!

Awesome newspaper reports!

In English, 6B have been researching the Wellington W5557 crash on Hatfield Moors during WWII! We had a very interesting discussion about it before planning a newspaper report based on our findings. The children were so hooked in from the get go and I have been blown away by their fantastic pieces of writing! Please ask your children to tell you about the plane crash and the locations that were involved! Many of the places may be very familiar to you!
