An amazing week in 1LI!

This week our children have worked hard with their literacy to understand common and proper nouns, and verbs in order to use these in their writing.

We enjoyed learning our poem “In Flanders Fields.”

We are also learning the names of 3D shapes, please support this at home with finding household objects which are cylinders, cubes, cuboids, cones, pyramids and spheres.

We are greatly enjoying our new phonics and the reading books!

Shading with charcoal!

In year 1 we are learning about shading, hatching and cross hatching.
We have practised first, and then we have shaded an outline of Rosa Park’s face.

1LI artists!

We have used red and yellow to mix orange paint. We can mix a watery paint for our background and a thicker paint to sponge on top, for the fire in the Great Fire of London.

We can’t wait to show you our creations, with the silhouettes of the buildings falling down on top of our painting.

Year 1- R.E

Year 1 had a productive afternoon in RE. We looked at different parables from the Bible and focused in particular on the story of ‘The Good Samaritan’. The children were then able to order the picture cards to put the story into the correct order. Well done Year 1!

1IL Ball skills

Year 1 practiced their ball skills this afternoon, focussing on how to stop the ball with their feet. They then had a good go at passing to a partner and were even able to weave in and out of the cones at the end!

Year 2 R.E

2P really enjoyed learning about Christian parables today. We looked at the story of ‘The Good Samaritan ‘ and what the deeper message is behind its story. They then ordered the story into the correct sequence. Well done Year 2!

R.E in Year 2

Year 2 did so well this afternoon when taking part in a gallery walk! The children were looking at different visual representations of Jesus and we had such a good discussion about how people pictured him to look and why. They had such good ideas and opinions. Keep it up!
