Hand washing – keeping our bodies healthy!

Today we have learnt how to keep our bodies healthy, by learning to wash our hands. We used glitter to represent germs and practised washing our hands thoroughly using soap. We noticed that if you just dip your hands in the water the germs don’t come off, you need to soap to wash them properly.

We learnt the song “wash wash wash our hands, wash our hands all day. Wash wash wash our hands, wash the germs away”.

KS1 Hero Day

Just a quick reminder following the letter that was sent home at the end of last year, that Monday (1st Setember) will be the Key Stage 1 hero dress up day. Your child can come dressed as any hero they want. It could be a story/film-based character or someone who is a real-life hero. It could be a parent, a neighbour, a Doctor, a Firefighter etc. Please don’t feel the need to spend money – many heroes wear normal ‘everyday’ clothes. We can’t wait to see your ideas!

KS1 Autumn 2025 Newsletter.

Welcome to Key Stage 1 for the Autumn term.

Below is some information about our autumn expedition – Not All Heroes Wear Capes. Page 1 contains an overview of the learning children will take part in and the home learning menu. Children can earn crew coins for any home learning completed.

We would be very grateful if anyone would visit the children as an expert to talk about being a community hero. This could be firefighters, police officers, NHS staff, or community volunteers. The children would love to hear from real-life heroes to make their learning even better!

Page 2 also has details of key dates for the autumn term.

Year 2 will normally have PE on Tuesdays and Year 1 on Thursdays. We will endeavour to notify you of changes where possible.

From Week 3, book bags will be sent home on Mondays and should be returned to school on Fridays.

A few gentle reminders to assist the team in school:

  • Please ensure all clothing is clearly labelled
  • Children should bring water bottles with water or squash in.
  • Stud earrings are permitted, but children must be able to remove these independently for PE.
