KS2 Euros party! Thursday 20th June 4:30pm-7pm

On Thursday 20th June, KS2 will be having a euros party to celebrate the game. We are asking children to come to the party dressed in either red, white or blue. If children do not have anything in these colours, they are welcome to come in any outfit they choose.

The event will be £1.50 which will include a hotdog and a drink and all funds raised will go towards a McDonalds treat for the Year 6’s going to London and a McDonald’s treat for the Year 6’s who will be staying in school.

Additional sweets will be available to purchase in addition to raise further funds. The event will start at 4:30pm and finish at 7:00pm promptly. Children must be collected by an adult from this event.

Next week, KS2 children will be decorating their own plain t-shirts ahead of the game. If you are happy for your child to decorate a t-shirt, please send the t-shirt into school no later then next Tuesday.

Thank you for your continued support!

Kason is getting brave and Mrs H is dafter than we thought!

Whilst investigating Oobleck, Kason asked a huge amount of questions to build his understanding of its, in Kason’s words, ‘weird properties’. One of his questions was, ‘What does it smell like?’ I told him I didn’t know and to smell it to find out.

’No,’ he said. ‘You smell it!’

Knowing what was coming, I took off my glasses to ‘smell’ the Oobleck. Here is what followed…

We learnt that the Oobleck splits over time to form a watery layer on the top which is what I mainly got all over my face. However, when this watery layer evaporated and my face was dry again, the Oobleck solution left behind a powdery layer which was very tricky to get off! My eyelashes were still white when I got home! Never mind – it was worth it to help your children remember their learning about this Non-Newtonian fluid. Kason had a great time too!

Oh, and to answer K’s question: It doesn’t have a smell!

We are Scientists!

Is it a solid? Is it a liquid? No it’s a non-Newtonian fluid! Years 3 and 4 have been making and investigating Oobleck this week. They were asked to pay particular attention to its ‘state of matter’ properties and to record how it behaved in a variety of situations. As you can imagine, we had great fun whilst learning lots in 4H!

More investigation photos will be added next week…

Well done everyone: I heard great discussion about the properties of Oobleck – you did a great job of washing it all off of your hands and into your bowls too so we didn’t block the toilet drains! Miss Trindall will be pleased with us all!

We are so proud of our Year 4 pupils

Well done to all of our Year 4 pupils who have worked really hard over the last few months to improve their recall of multiplication facts up to 12 x 12 in preparation for their official multiplication check this week. We couldn’t have asked more of you and really do appreciate that the pressure has been intense but you have all done your best; so thank you and well done. Please remember though: you may have completed your official checks, but it is still really important for you to continue to work on your multiplication recall. The quicker you can remember them, the more confident you will feel in maths next year and beyond!

Well done everyone!

We are writers

4H have been working really hard to write about what Fairtrade is and how we can help to support this co-operative organisation. Your vocabulary choices are becoming so much more effective, everyone and I am really proud of how hard you have tried to plan in and include a variety of different fronted adverbials!

I look forward to reading and marking these pieces of writing in preparation for the production of our final product.
