Food chains and sharing in maths!

Lot’s of important lessons learnt today in 2B! This morning we looked at food chains and identified the producer, consumer and predator. We learnt lots of new scientific vocabulary which we can use for our final write. Then, this afternoon we looked at using part whole models to work out division problems, making sure we were sharing out the whole equally between the groups.

See you all tomorrow for a fantastic Friday!

P E Days

Just a quick message to confirm that Y2 will have PE on Wednesday and Friday. I would recommend bringing kits to school on Monday and taking them home on Friday. Where possible we will still have PE lessons outdoors so please provide warm clothes and trainers.

Thank You

Home Learning in 2P

It has been great to see the children’s learning has not stopped in the classroom. Look at the fabulous work that has also been completed at home. Including jellyfish, habitats and a bug hotel. I’m really impressed that they all include recycled materials. Keep the super work coming in, they are a welcome addition to our learning environment.

Text Marking and Literacy Labs

This morning after a super phonics session children have been reading a non-chron about Polar Bear and then collaboratively highlighting the key features (punctuation, conjunctions and adjectives).
They then enjoyed their literacy labs where they were getting crafty, beings artists, reading facts, labelling and practising their phonics. #LovePlover

Compassionate Home Learning

A big shout out to Atlas for his home learning project this weekend. He used a plastic bottle and has recycled it to make a bug hotel habitat. We will hang it in our playground for any creatures to chill out in. This links very much to our science. #LovePlover

The Deep

We had an awesome trip to The Deep on Friday. We saw so many marine animals that some of us haven’t yet seen before. Each class had an educational workshop where we looked at the impacts of rubbish and plastics in the ocean, which links lovely to our current expedition.

The Deep!

We had a great visit to The Deep on Friday. I was super impressed with all the children’s polite manners and engagement. We were fascinated by all the beautiful animals and their habitats. We were fortunate enough to take part in a workshop entitled: “Caring for our Oceans”. It fits in perfectly with out expedition and follows the story of a killer whale called Kal who travels across the worlds oceans to try and find some help for some friends in need. We were able to explore the effects of plastic in the ocean, the animals that live in our Oceans and what we can do to help take care of our planet. Take a look at some of the photos and visits from our incredible day!
