5S Study Sikhism

For our R.E. learning, we focused on religious festivals. Specifically, we looked at the Sikh festival of Bandi Chhor Divas.

We learnt about how it is celebrated in India, and what specific ways British families recognise the occassion.

We then told the story of the festival in groups by creating posters and storyboards.

Well done!

5S investigating air resistance

5S investigated the effect of air resistance on large sheets of card by running with them held in different positions. Interestingly, we found that the card has more air to move aside when held up, meaning we were not able to run quickly. If we held the card on itā€™s side, the effect of air resistance was reduced and we could run faster.

We discussed some real life examples such as bicycle helmets and clothing, formula one cars and parachutes and described the advantages of streamlined design.

Well done to this weekā€™s award winners

Well done to all the children who achieved certificates for their hard work at Times Table Rockstars and Reading Plus this week, keep up the amazing effort – we canā€™t wait to see more of you every week!

5S analyse the features of non-chronological reports

5S have worked brilliantly in pairs this morning to analyse the features of an expedition-related text which takes the form of a non-chronoligical report.

We read the text together then identified the features and their purpose, before sharing our ideas as a class.

Sharing stories together in year 5 and 6

Today, in time to read Tuesday, crew Schofield were welcomed by crew Blackham where we shared stories together. It was great to see the pairs and small groups listening attentively and sharing the reading so well.
