Family Learning

What a fabulous turn out! Thank you to all parents, carers and other family members who came along today to engage in our family learning event. Classrooms have been immersed and our final product is well on the way to completion already. It is going to look incredible.
If you have moved to Doncaster from elsewhere, and would still be willing to share your story with us, please feel free to jot a few notes down and hand into me or drop me an email. More of us have moved to Doncaster than we thought for – I’m from Hastings originally. I wonder how diverse our Plover family actually is?

We are historians: Doncaster Museum Library

What another fabulous day! So much learning covered in a fun and interactive way. The ladies who ran the workshop were incredibly impressed with the behaviour and learning attitudes of all children. You did yourselves and Plover proud guys! Well done.

Roman Quest Day

What a way to start the week! Challenges were laid down by the Roman Army and by a Celtic warrior too. Effective team work, map reading, Roman Numeral maths and even archeological digging were required to crack the code, open the box and discover our fate. Did we crack the code? If so, would we join the Roman Army? Or become one of the local tribe members?

Well done 4H! You cracked the code and opened the box!

Year 4 P.E

Year 4 had such a great time this morning learning how to communicate effectively in P.E. Some children were blindfolded while their partner gave clear instructions to make it from one place to another. They then moved on to working on their team work skills by moving across the playground inside hoops. What a super Crew they were!

Romans school trip 🏛️🛡️

4B have had an amazing day learning all about the Romans at the Danum gallery, library and museum. We have engaged in different activities with real life Roman artefacts in our Romans workshop. We also had some time to explore the museum and art gallery. The children have learnt lots and behaved fabulously. They should all be incredibly proud! Well done 4B!

Family learning 🏛️🛡️🎨

Tomorrow is LKS2 family learning for year 3 and 4 which will start at 1:30 and finish at around 3. Family members are to sign in at the office and will join the children in completing different activities set up across the four classrooms. Also if you could bring in any spare cardboard to use to make Roman shields, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Year 3&4 team

Reminders for the week❔💭

Just a few reminders for Hook week:

Tomorrow is our school trip to the Danum museum and art gallery. Children will need to come in normal school uniform, bring a pack lunch (unless they have requested a school one) and have suitable footwear as we will be walking to the destination. Sun cream and hats would also be beneficial to take due to the current hot weather.

The payment of £14 covers the costs of the school trip to the museum to learn about the Romans tomorrow (£7) and an expert coming into school to deliver a day-long workshop about the Romans on Friday (£7). Those who haven’t brought in consent forms or paid on parent pay, can that be done as soon as possible. Ideally, payment should be made by tomorrow, however, we are aware that there are some circumstances where that might not be possible. Therefore, payment at a later date is acceptable as long as the amount is eventually paid. It’s really important that the costs of school trips are covered as the schools budget is limited. Lack of payments could impact on future activities for the children and it would be a shame for them to miss out.

Because of the school trip this week, we will be having PE on Wednesday. PE for year 4 will usually be every Tuesday and children can come to school in their PE kits for that day.

I hope that this provides some clarity.
