Today, year 4 had worked on improving their haka that they had already created by adding in more steps. They got into groups of 4 or 5 and chose their leaders who would make sure there was no errors and make sure everyone is in unison.

4H embraced World Book Day whole heartedly and we had so much fun throughout the day. The live draw along with Phil Shepherd inspired us to imagine our own characters and ideas for the front cover of a book. The finished products are so good I need to have a new wall built somewhere so that I can display all of them! Getting comfy with a cushion seemed to be a favourite part of the day as we read more of our key text: The Last Bear. There really is nothing better than sitting back, relaxing and reading or listening to a great story. I’m sure someone fell asleep…no names mentioned!
Don’t forget that your book token can be used for £1 off of a book from our book fair when it arrives!

In this weeks PE, the children perfected their Hakka routine. First, we did a fun warm up of musical statues showing off our favourite dance moves. Then, we recapped the steps of the Hakka as a class and broke out into small groups to perform it in unison. Shout out to Elijah, Caleb and Kodish who were our PE supper stars for being brave enough to perform their routine in front of the whole class! You were fabulous!

We have been so fortunate to receive funding to buy brand new dictionaries throughout school, providing all classes from Year 2 upwards a set of dictionaries and thesauruses – and 4H were the first class to use them!
We were investigating homophones, and they used the dictionaries to research the definitions of the homophones, so they could make sure they had selected the correct one.

Well done 4H!

In todays Crew session, we worked in mini crews to keep a balloon in the air with only pens. Well done to those who were calm and focussed when working together in their mini crew to complete the challenge successfully!

We have had great fun investigating magnets and finding polar north by hanging a magnet from a piece of string. The initial speed of the magnet spinning in both directions convinced the children that it was just ‘going cray-cray’ (their words NOT mine) and not actually working. They were amazed when it finally settled, pointing in the direction we had previously confirmed as being north with a compass!
Ellis took his learning a step further and investigated how closely he could push two magnets together before the magnetic force took over! Well done Ellis, extra special scientist shout out for you young man!
Well done everyone!

Approximately 17,595 steps or 13.12km of walking should mean your child will sleep well tonight. What a wonderful (but tiring) day! The polar bears were so active and our workshop helped us to better understand how enormous these fabulous creatures are. The photos really don’t do the day justice – you need to see them to believe them!
Your behaviour around the park was was fabulous 4H and shout out to everyone in the red crews for excellent behaviour whilst we were on the coach! I am so proud of you all.
Special shout out to Caleb who spent the day making as many notes as he could about polar bears!
