This afternoon, 4B we’re lucky enough to have a google meet with our expert speaker, Joann, who works as a biologist for an organisation called Polar Bears International. She amazed us with lots of facts about polar bears and their habitat; helping us to build real-life background knowledge for our expedition. We aim to help her organisation towards the end of our expedition by making a monetary donation. You can find out more about them on their website: https://polarbearsinternational.org/

Fun and active ways to practise times tables proved a hit this afternoon. It’s amazing how competitive the usually quite ones were…you know who you are people! Well done and keep practising those multiplication facts at home too. Perhaps you could challenge others at home like we did with each other today? Let’s get those minutes and scores up on TT!

Today in Maths, we noticed that any number divided by itself always equals 1. We also noticed that the quotient (answer) of a division question will be the same as the dividend (the amount that will be divided) if our divisor (what we divide by) is 1.
Well done everyone – some great links made today. I wonder if you can apply today’s fluency to tomorrow’s reasoning and problem solving…

In English, we have been looking for and suggesting different partitive nouns to show how much of a particular something we have. The children suggested a teaspoon of sugar; a loaf of bread; and a bolt of lightning amongst many others. They were then able to insert missing partitive nouns into a recipe for hot chocolate.
Well done everyone!
