Fire safety talk in Year 3
Today, we were lucky to have a visitor from South Yorkshire fire and rescue who helped the children to understand a lot about fire safety in their homes and what to do in the event of a fire.
They have all been encouraged to help test their smoke detectors at home, and what they do to get help from the fire and rescue service.
Great participation, thank you to all the pupils and our visitor!
Solid, liquids or Gas?
We made our science learning active when we played a game of Solid, Liquid and Gas. On the call, children had to form a group to demonstrate what the particles of solids, liquids and gases look like – solid = tightly packed together; liquid = loosely connected; gas = not connected.
Who knew science could be such active fun!

What time is it, Mrs Graves?
This week we have been learning to tell the time using an analogue clock. We have recapped o’clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to, and then moved on to telling the time using 5 minute intervals and in 1 minute intervals.
We enjoyed working together today to build our own clocks to use as our anchor charts in our time lessons.
We have found it quite tricky, as many of use don’t use the traditional clocks. We are much more used to reading digital time on our phones, ovens and cars. So, we would love it if our family at home can help us practise – please keep asking us what time it is, or telling us what time we will be doing things – and please show us what that time looks like on a traditional clock, using the phrases ‘minute hand’ and ‘hour hand’, …. minutes past, ………. minutes to etc.

LKS2 Chocolatey Celebration of Learning
Thank you for doing us at our Celebration of Learning on Friday.
It is amazing to reflect on how much we have covered this term as we listen to the children talking about it and went through the exercise books.
I think the singing was the most beautiful performance we have ever had and the final product went down a treat!
Thank you to Mrs Williams (Julianna’s Mum) for taking the basket of goodies to the Care Home.

Sandall Beat Stars
Well done to local grass roots team Sandall Beat U9’s!
Samuel, Bobby, George, Lucas, Jaxon, Lamar, Theo, Jenson and Nelson are all Plover pupils. It was their first ‘proper’ tournament as Under 9’s and they won the league but sadly lost out on penalties in the final game. All of the children worked brilliantly, showing fantastic teamwork! #LovePlover

Today, year 3 enjoyed family learning in the hall, where we made chocolate fudge, chocolate pops, and engaged in different Fairtrade arts and crafts activities.
