Posters!

2P has been learning about the features of posters. We looked at different examples of posters to analyse what we thought they included and what made them good. It was agreed that posters needed to be clear and concise. We then had a time limit to get across a simple message about visiting Doncaster. After the time was up, we critiqued whether we had achieved our objectives.

We are artists

Last week, Year 2 began their artwork case study. The children have started working on their drawing skills, working on line, shape, tone and value. I can’t wait to see how the children’s skills progress.

Well done for a great start everyone!

Finding Half!

In our lesson today we were recognising and finding half of a quantity. We know from our previous lessons that finding a half is when there are two equal groups. Around the room we had different numbers that the children worked in groups to find half of.

We then talked about having an odd numbers. We cannot find a half of an odd number as there will always be a spare.

One Million Words

Wow, wow, wow! Well done to everyone in my Reading group, you have all worked so hard and together you have managed to read one million words over the last term!

The children have worked so hard to develop their fluency, comprehension and inference skills and they have been enjoying using our Reading Plus platform. As you can see, they were so pleased to meet their goal!

Well done to all of you, you are all superstars!

Head lice information and advice

Within most schools at any one time, there will be a small number of children infected with head lice. Infection levels remain fairly constant so we need your help to combat the bugs!

As a school, it is our job to ensure parents/carers are provided with the advice and support to effectively detect and treat cases of head lice affecting their own children.

We understand your frustrations and concerns regarding head lice. The attached leaflet has some answers to your questions.

Aerial view!

2P have been learning how aerial views can be used to draw maps. We used an aerial image of our school and then used a ruler and pencils to carefully draw the lines to create our own map. We added some labels and some symbols. We did a great job! Take a look at David’s beautiful work:
