Due to the Year 3 school trip being on Tuesday, (the usual day for PE in year 3) PE will be on Wednesday for this week. If children could come into school in their PE kit on Wednesday, that would be great!
Thanks

3B had a wonderful time learning all about life during the Second World War at Wilderspin. They learnt about the different roles of people on the home front and the life of a child evacuee. A great start to hook week!

Year 3 had great fun on Friday afternoon when they had to work in crew teams to complete the challenges set for them. Communication was key; some of us were great at this, whilst others needed to learn share the air or to listen with more care. Once this was achieved, we were able to work much more effectively as crews and in doing so, we learnt a lot about each other too!
Well done, Year 3. Remember to continue communicating clearly and working to your strengths.

3H have been really busy this week thinking about āWhat Crew means to themā and how they could show this in an āact of kindnessā. We realised quickly that Crew means looking after each other and the area we live and work in. To show an act of kindness, we decided to head out into the community and give it a good old clean up.
With litter pickers and bags in hand, 3H came back with more litter than I even imagined!
Well done everyone! Your act of kindness did not go unnoticed by your community!

Today, 3B completed their act of service: litter picking around the local area. Not only did the children do a great job, they also had lots of fun! This was also appreciated by some members of the public who said kind, encouraging words and even clapped the children for their hard work. Well done!
We also created some amazing anti littering posters to spread the message of looking after our environment by putting rubbish in the bin.

Everyone has worked so well today, discussing the positive parts that we ānoticedā and āpraisedā about our anti-littering posters. Some superb advice was given in a kind and supportive way using the words, āI wonder if you couldā¦ā when improvements could be made. I hope everyone is proud of their final products now that they have improved their first drafts. I praise how well every one responded to the advice they were given!

3H have spent time looking at a range of different anti-littering posters today. They critiqued the examples we gave them, pointing out the strong elements as well as areas which could be even better! Then designed their own. Some very thoughtful suggestions were made about why it is so important to make sure we āBin it, donāt drop it!ā
Well done guys. You were fab for Miss Wood this morning and worked so hard with me this afternoon too!
Also, I hope you enjoyed the time you spent with the graffiti artistā¦just look at your finished product! WOWEE! Please, please, please 3H, take your parents, carers and/or other adults who collect you from school around to see the wall you helped to paint. It really is a piece of art to be proud of and youāll have your mark on the building forever! Imagine when youāre grown up and bringing your own kids to Ploverā¦You could say, āI did that!ā

PE days in year 3 will be every Tuesday so from next week, children should arrive on that day in a their PE kit (black shorts, white top and trainers).
Thank you,

3B have had a great first day back at school. Together, we have decided our classroom norms and recapped routines. They have also done some fun activities related to our crew focus this week of an act of service: litter picking.
As well as this, they also had a special visitor and got to have their own go at creating graffiti style artwork on the school wall. Iām sure itās going to look amazing when itās finished!

We hope you have all had a wonderful summer break!
During our first week back, we would like to take the children in year 3 for an XP outdoors experience to litter pick around the local area in places such as the Intake library park and the Multi-use Games Area (MUGA). Litter picking equipment has kindly been provided by the local council. Not only will this act of service improve the local community area used by many of the children at our school, itĀ will help us to develop our crew.
The trip will be on Friday 30th August 2024 at 9:15-11am.
There is no cost for this field trip. However, we require the children to have sensible outdoor clothing and footwear.
It would be lovely for as many parents/carers to attend as possible. Please let class teachers know if you are able to support.
A letter should be sent out by the end of the day and we would appreciate it if reply slips could be returned by Thursday 29th August 2024.
Thank you,
Miss Brown and Mrs Haycock
