It’s a celebration!

Year 2 has had a fabulous celebration of learning this afternoon. Thank you so much to all of the adults who were able to join us! The children proudly presented a summary of all of their learning throughout the expedition ‘Diverse Doncaster: Where do we belong?’.

We also proudly showed off our final product. Our very own BSL course for beginners. The children taught the grown ups how to use basic signs and then we has a BSL finger spelling challenge between the children and the grown-ups!

The children then proudly showed off their learning from this expedition. Great work Year 2!

1/2K Celebration of Learning

Thank you so much to those wonderful parents who joined us this afternoon for our celebration of learning. They delivered a wonderful presentation of our learning and it was so great to see everyone being super brave to say their own parts. I am so proud of all of you 1/2K!

The children have worked so hard this term as both local Geographers and local Historians. They have shown great enthusiasm learning more about the things they see all the time and I am so proud of their achievements. We were especially proud of our final product. We have created a scheme of learning to teach others BSL, we hope to spread this around to educate and open up conversations for as many people as we can. This has been something that has been very important in our classroom and the impact for our children really has been something special to be a part of.

Behind the scenesā€¦.

A sneak peek behind the scenes in KS1 this afternoon. We have been movie stars this afternoon, filming videos in front of a green screen with Geoff! This will be for our final product and we are so excited to share it with you. A big thank you to Geoff for filming and Plover’s own experts Joe, Zuzanna and Rahoz for being the best directors EVER!

Text Coding!

In our English lesson yesterday, we explored our model text more deeply. We talked about common features you would expect to find in a Recount. First we talked about what a Recount is, why we write them and who we are writing them for. We then searched for evidence of past tense verbs, writing in the first person (pronouns) and using time adverbials. We swapped colours for every feature to show the difference. Finally we looked for evidence of opinions.

Reminder – KS1 Celebration of Learning

Good evening.

A gentle reminder to save the date.

KS1 celebration of learning will start at 2pm on Tuesday 2nd July. The children will be sharing their learning from their current expedition and teaching adults some of the British Sign Language they have been learning.

The celebration will take place in the children’s classrooms. Please enter and sign in through the gates on Queensberry Road.

Any questions, please speak to the KS1 team.

We are Artists – Second draft

Today we had a go at our second draft of our Artwork. The children really worked hard to do their line drawing without using the squared paper to help. We will continue these later on in the week before adding our shading techniques that we have been learning. Well done everyone!

We are Artists

Today we started our artwork using our line drawing skills. We are going to create a final drawing of the Deaf School. Today was our first attempt and we will critique and improve them in our next session.

What do you think so far?

Wonderful writers!

Well done to Raegan and Lucas who produced wonderful plans about local hero, Douglas Bader. Both boys tried so hard to not only do their neatest handwriting but also remember all the key information we had learnt. Well done boys, I can’t wait to see your final fact files!
