Super Writing in 3G!

Well done 3G, you have put brilliant effort into your writing this week – and were even excited to do your final write today.

You started the week well, with some great drama, getting into the role of an evacuee and then you have worked really hard to produce beautiful writing.

Well done, keep up the good work!

LKS2 Shout Out!

Well done to all the children in Year 3 and 4 this week. You have worked so incredibly hard, fitting in the learning that was planned to be covered over four days into the 3 days we had this week.

I have seen how hard you have worked on your final write and I am looking forward to reading some more in more detail.

You have really demonstrated how much you have learnt in your World War 2 expedition so far.

Well done and keep up the hard work!!

In memory of Queen Elizabeth

With have created some beautiful artwork this week in memory of Queen Elizabeth. The children have worked so hard sketching half and half faces, using an image from when the Queen was a Princess in the ATS (Army) during World War 2.

The images have been reduced in size so they can be displayed in our special memorial book that Miss Blackham is taking to London.

They have created a very fitting tribute to a very special Queen, whilst furthering their knowledge about the war.

Year 3 and 4 PE

For your information, Year 4 PE will usually be held on Monday and Year 3 PE will usually be held on Wednesday.

There may be times when these days have to change ( due to weather, extra PE sessions or other unforeseen circumstances), so please could children bring their PE kits to school on Monday and leave in school until Friday.

It also helps us greatly if all items of PE clothing (and footwear) are labelled with the child’s name.

Thanks for your support

Rugby World Cup Tickets

Good Evening

We have a fantastic opportunity for 10 of our Plover children to be flag bearers and parade around the Eco Power pitch for the opening game of the Rugby League World Cup!

Ā·       The first fixture at the Eco Power Stadium, which will take place on Monday 17th October, France Vs Greece, 7.30pm kick off. This is the game that we plan on celebrating the success of the RLWC2021 Legacy program that our school has been a part of. We are encouraging as many children to attend this fixture with friends, family, parents and school friends. The Flag Parade will take place 30/40 mins before kick off!

Ā·        Parents will be able to pay for tickets on ParentPay for themselves and their children. We are keeping a track on quantities so tickets can be bought together and all the Plover Crew sit together for this amazing experience!

It would be amazing for as many Plover children and families to experience this once in a life time sporting opportunity. We ask that every child attending has a parent/guardian with them. Mr Meade and another member of Plover staff will be there to meet you all.

Any questions email [email protected] or speak to the office! The deadline for tickets is next Friday 16th September! #LovePover

Evacuation Day!

We have travelled back in time today on our field trip to Barton on Humber .

We started the day finding out where we were being billeted to and looking at the houses where we would stay.

We then had a 1930s lesson in the classroom and wrote our postcards home. Unfortunately the air raid siren went off and we had to shelter in the school shelter.

After lunch, we learnt more about the Home Front and why children were called Churchillā€™s Cogs. We practised salvaging materials, looked at real gas masks and learnt what people kept in an Anderson Shelter box!

It has been a brilliant experience and we really have come face to face with the past!

It was a great day and we have all learnt so much.
