(Art)Gallery Walk

This video shows how we critiqued and explored a noteable artist called Peter Thorpe. The children loved talking to eachother all about shape, line, texture and colour. It was slightly more noisy than when we wrote our observations and drew our own pictures! Watch this space for our masterpieces!

Art Critique

Today we critiqued Peter Thorpe’s art work. 🎨 We noticed and praised the colours, lines and shapes he used. Some of us had wonders about his colour choices and shapes. We discussed how his art made us feel. There was a mixture of emotions! We then had a go at our own piece and critiqued that. Tomorrow we will use our wonders to make an improved piece of beautiful Peter Thorpe inspired art. Click on the link to get a feel of our classroom this morning.(sound on) It was amazing!

The history of space travel!

In pairs, we made a poster for a date and event in the history of space travel. We then put them in chronological order to make a timeline in our classroom. We used this information to write about what we know about the changes in space travel and why those changes are important to us now. Some beautiful work from 1B today! #loveplover

Quarters

We have been learning that a quarter is 1 of 4 equal parts. We shaded a quarter of a shape, cut shapes into quarters, used rulers to draw lines on shapes and objects to split it onto quarters. Then for a green challenge, we had 1/4 of a shape and had to draw which whole shape it could be from. It was very tricky so we used paper shapes to work it out. Some of us made squares and some of us made rectangles. Most of us found it very challenging to draw the shape! Shout out to Riley who nailed it! 👏 #loveplover

Deaf Awareness

Today, Mrs Allardyce from Archi talked to us about how we can communicate with our deaf friends in school. Every week, we learn a new sign but we discussed how we can use our hands to communicate, even if we don’t know the actual sign. We can make sure we are looking at our friend and not covering our mouths. It’s been really helpful exploring this together. Shout out to all the staff in archi for helping us learn 🙌

Anchor Charts

Today, we made our own anchor charts using pictures and words in our mini crews. We are going to use this information about Mae Jemison as we further explore her life and why she was significant. #loveplover
