Wonderful maths work

Today, Mr Longley came to see our maths work. We showed him our ten fat sausages game to help us learn the numbers that make ten. After carpet time, Tommy made some work to show the numbers that go together to make ten. He didnā€™t have any help and he talked about the pairs of numbers that make ten, with confidence. Well done Tommy!

ice cream

Today, we tasted ice cream and voted for our favourite flavour. We made a tally chart and worked out the total numbers. We could then talk about the least and most popular flavours. We decided to transform our role play are into an ice cream shop. We made a sign, menus and pictures to enhance our role play area. We canā€™t wait to play together and see which is the most ordered flavour of ice cream.

We have had great fun this week writing our own descriptions of different rooms within Mr Wonkaā€™s chocolate factory! Ideas were bubbling and expanded noun phrases were brewing then the creativity was really let loose!

We are Getting Smart

Using the dictionaries and thesauruses that Mrs Graves has recently bought for school, we have been able to find synonyms and antonyms without having to ask for help! We feel so proud of ourselves and will get quicker at finding the words the more that we practise.

Past Tense

In 2L this week we have been writing recounts and have been focussing on writing accurately in the past tense. The children enjoyed finding verbs and then used their magic wands to put them into the past tense. They knew to watch out for the sneaky verbs that were trying to catch us out by not ending in ed.

Piece of the Week

In 2L we have all been working hard to improve our handwriting so every week we will celebrate with a ‘Piece of the Week’. Everyone has been trying hard and congratulations go to Paisley for her beautiful writing last week and Sergei for his this week. Well done both of you! I wonder who our winner next week will be….

Pride Of Plover
