Doncaster Knights v Nottingham 4th November Turnstiles open at 10.30am
Well done to everyone who entered our art competition and have produced some stunning artwork for our staff room. The art work will really make out staff smile when they are planning! Everyone who participated have earned 10 crew coins but Josiah and Aarav won the prizes!
On Monday 6th November, our new school photographer, VC Photography, will be in school to take individual and sibling photos of all year groups.
Our photographer will also extend a photo opportunity to our families with younger siblings who do not currently attend our school. If you would like your children photographed together please come to the school hall (via main reception) between 8am and 8.40am where our photographer will be set up. We will try to accommodate all requests, however, we anticipate that this early session will be popular so please allow plenty of time as there may be a queue.
Once the photographs have been taken proof cards will be provided one week later for you to view your photographs and place any orders online, if you choose to do so. Any orders placed by the deadline will be delivered in time for Christmas.
We are challenging ALL of our pupils to enter our half-term art competition. We would love you to create a piece of art to display proudly in our school staff room. You can create any piece of artwork you like! Please ensure any contributions are given to your class teacher on the 31st October who will pass them on to myself and the winners will be notified on the 1st November. There will be numerous prizes: the most creative, the brightest, the most unique and an overall winner!
We hope you all get involved and we cannot wait to see all your beautiful art creations!
This week, most of our schools are on their half term break – except our newest school, XP Gateshead. They’ve had a week full of incredible stories…
Beautiful Work This Week @ XP Gateshead
Thomas Hepburn Memorial Service
On Saturday 14th October some of our staff, students and families from G30 attended the annual memorial service for Thomas Hepburn at St Mary’s Church, Heworth. The service commemorates the life of Thomas Hepburn who spent his life working to improve the lives of miners and their families as well as being the founder of the Colliers United of Durham and Northumberland in 1825.
It was a real honour to be invited to the ceremony where the acclaimed filmmaker, Ken Loach, spoke about Thomas Hepburn’s life and his fight for social justice as a leader of the first miners’ trade union. The service also featured readings from the local MP for Easington Grahame Morris, the Mayor of Gateshead, Cllr Eileen McMaster and the Reverend Lucy Moss. The Durham Miners Association Brass Band were wonderful and accompanied the service throughout. Following the service, wreaths were laid at Thomas Hepburn’s grave and the Felling Banner group gave our students the great honour of laying their wreath.
