Niana and Olly were our Pride Of Plover winners before half term. Niana always has an amazing attitude to learning and is kind to her peers. Olly has begun to settle into school life and join in with some activities. I wonder who will get our yellow T-shirt this week…keep working super duper hard F1!
This afternoons children have loved trying out our new soft play equipment after forest schools! We have seen some excellent climbing, balancing, team work and perseverance. Please ensure on a Tuesday your child comes to school in shoes/socks they can easily take on/off themselves ready for our future soft play sessions.
Wow what an amazing day we have had doing Forest Schools today, we didn’t let the rain stop us! The children have loved learning about campfires, toasting marshmallows and making Autumnal pictures.
F1 have really enjoyed their Halloween party today, dressing up as witches and wizards. We have done some pumpkin/spider play dough, pumpkin carving, used our fine motor to find Halloween objects with tweezers and had some tasty party treats. I hope you enjoy the rest of your spooky celebrations this week!
The children in 2P discussed the concept of race and racism. First we discussed the life of Rosa Parks and how she suffered years of discrimination and segregation.
Next, we discussed how people all have similarities and differences but at times some people will not be kind because of the differences.
Through drama, role play and discussions we worked out what would be seen as racism and what wouldn’t. The children then linked this to the life of Rosa Parks and realised that, at times, some people will not be kind because of the differences.
We used our knowledge to create a short piece of drama that reenacted the story of Rosa Parks on the bus. You can watch this here:
Plover welcomes you to the halloween disco on Monday 30th October. Entry cost ÂŁ1.50. Please drop and pick children up from their class door. Check your child’s halloween key stage poster to find out the start and end time.
The perseverance of the children in 2L has really blown me away today. They have all worked so hard to create some beautiful artwork of Rosa Parks. Today we practised using new techniques with charcoal and then used these techniques to create a portrait of Rosa. I’m sure we have a few budding artists in our class!
This week in Y2 we have been writing a non-chronological report on Rosa Parks. The children researched Rosa before writing paragraphs about her significance to the Civil Rights Movement. Everybody has worked really hard but these children popped to Y6 to show Miss Topliss what an amazing job they had done. I hope she doesn’t try to pinch you for her class!
