How do you make ice-cream?

Today we investigated how to make things change. We looked at ice and how rock salt makes it colder. We learnt about how shaking cream makes it go harder. We also noticed that the ice melts in fingers.

All this happened whilst we made and tasted ice-cream!

changing state

Today, we made ice cream and looked at how we could change liquid (cream) to solid ice cream by making it really cold. A double bonus was that it tasted delicious too!

We Love Ice Cream!

This week we have been exploring ice cream. We started off on Tuesday by tasting different flavour scoop ice cream. We tried strawberry, vanilla and chocolate, then each voted for our favourite. As a class, we decided that chocolate was our favourite!

Today we was lucky enough to have a visit from the ice cream man, where we tried Mr Whippy ice cream, with rasberry sauce on top. It was delicious, and perfect weather to enjoy it in the sun

Thanks Miss Wood!

Miss Wood visited the seaside and brought us some rock back. Some of us loved it and some of us did not like it. We noticed that it got stuck in our teeth so we had a big chat about brushing our teeth twice a day to keep them clean and healthy.

ice cream

Today, we tasted ice cream and voted for our favourite flavour. We made a tally chart and worked out the total numbers. We could then talk about the least and most popular flavours. We decided to transform our role play are into an ice cream shop. We made a sign, menus and pictures to enhance our role play area. We can’t wait to play together and see which is the most ordered flavour of ice cream.

Past Tense

In 2L this week we have been writing recounts and have been focussing on writing accurately in the past tense. The children enjoyed finding verbs and then used their magic wands to put them into the past tense. They knew to watch out for the sneaky verbs that were trying to catch us out by not ending in ed.
