1CU GO BANANAS!

Yesterday afternoon we were super busy learning the banana dance! We really loved learning all the new words that taught us different ways to prepare our fruits and vegetables! We all want to be rich and famous Youtubers now!

Go Bananas!

As an introduction to our new Expedition, we became YouTuber’s and made our own dance video. Our topic is Ready, Steady, Grow and we are going to be learning all about how to live a healthy lifestyle. We created a video to teach you some dance moves so you can dance along at home too. GO BANANAS!

There’s been some evil things happening in 1Cr!

What a start to the new year! We arrived in our classroom this morning to see some terrible crimes had been committed whilst we were away. We hunted the classroom to take pictures of the crime scene, we made predictions about who could have done these terrible things and we shared our new class text! Our new class text is Supertato! We looked at the front cover and talked about what we predicted might happen in the story. After reading an email from the kitchen about some peas going missing from the freezer, we believe we know who our culprit is! EVIL PEA!

As we don’t have Supertato at our school, we designed our own Super Vegetable/Fruit! Someone who could fight our villain, who is still at large!

THANK YOU!!

Thank you for my thoughtful leaving prezzies everyone!! I love them, and can’t wait to fill up my photo album!!

Introduction to Numbots

Dear Parent/Carer,

We are delighted to inform you about an online learning platform called NumBots that we’re using to support your child’s understanding of number bonds and to help their addition and subtraction skills. These are the essential building blocks for higher-level maths concepts, so we are excited by the impact that NumBots will have on your child’s learning.

We will also be celebrating children’s achievements each week in our community crew, where we will be presenting the children’s certificates.

Logging In

The children have been shown how to log in and have brought home a username label containing their unique login details. NumBots can be played on a browser (play.numbots.com) or via the app which is free to download on Amazon, Android and Apple devices. They may need help entering the details, but once they’re in they will be able to play the game on their own.

Please ask your child’s teacher if they are struggling to login.

Important: Please don’t allow siblings, friends or family to answer for them, as the programme progresses at the pace of each child. Do feel free to support your child if they’re stuck and give them encouragement to keep trying even if it takes a number of times to complete a level.

Children should all have logged in at school and be aware of how to log in.

Little and often

In order to get the best out of NumBots, we recommend that children play regularly for short bursts at a time, aiming for 3 minutes, five times a week.

Game Types

  • Story Mode – the emphasis is on learning the ideas and concepts behind addition and subtraction so it features more diagrams, representations and question styles.
  • Challenge Mode – the emphasis is more on speed of recall of key facts, like number bonds to 10, doubling small numbers or adding & taking away in your head.

Please let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions or comments.Ā

Party day

We have had a lovely day creating and celebrating. Some children made a Santa this morning. We had a visit from Santa and then had a lovely Christmas dinner. Thank you to all the cooks and dinner staff. This afternoon we played games in our party. Well done to Cohen for winning pass the parcel. We hope you enjoy your story book.
