Last week we had visits from a dancer and a footballer! We spoke about how exercise keeps our bodies healthy, and how it can be fun to get fit. We learnt lots of new skills.

On Friday F1 dressed up as a phonics sound, as a hook ready to start RWI phonics today. We spoke about what sound we were dressed as, did some letter pencil control sheets, oral blending and rhyming.

We have had a fantastic phonics day in F2BP. We have played lots of games, practiced reading and writing and have had lots of fun.
We also made ourselves into words. Can you guess the words that we made?

A big well done to Charlotte and Abbie who were our Pride of Plover winners today. They have been superstars in their learning and we are so proud of them. They are working hard, being kind and getting smart.

On the final day of Hook Week, we spent some of the morning in our crews designing a Crew robot. We combined our ideas to design a robot that makes healthy snacks/drinks and encourages different physical activities to keep people fit and healthy. I would like to say a huge shoutout to all of the adults who came in to support the children with creating the robot in our family learning event in the afternoon. Everyone worked well together to make our amazing design a reality and should be super proud of the end product.

This week as part of our expedition, we are looking at what we can do to keep our bodies healthy. Today we focussed on learning to wash our hands properly, to stop germs getting into our tummies. We used glitter to represent the germs and noticed that it we just put our hands in the water, the glitter did not come off. We then used soap to wash our hands and the glitter all came off. We spoke about how you need to wash between your fingers and your wrists too.

We’ve had some fun, active lessons learning all about animals in Hook Week. First, we played an active food chain game to learn about the flow of energy within a food chain between grass, deer and wolves. Then, we worked in teams to classify different types in animals as either a mammal, reptile, amphibian, insect, fish, bird or arachnid based on their different features. Everyone took part and had lots of fun while learning.

A big thank you to the parents and carers that joined us for our Family Learning event on Friday. We made a crew robot, created tin can robots and completed robot puzzles.
Everybody got really stuck in and it was great to see the teamwork as our crew robot grew!
