Hi Plover Parents,

It has been fantastic to see so many children and staff back in school today for our first day back! 🙂

This Thursday 2nd September is KS1 and KS2 Sports day – a celebration for all the community to enjoy, heading into (hopefully) a smoother year!

Parents are INVITED and can access the school field from 9.15am. Chairs/benches will be out on the concrete for parents to sit and watch the track events.

There will be an ice-cream van on the playground for children to purchase an ice cream (with parents supervision) after their running races.

The sports day will look and run slightly different from previous sports days, however we just want it to be a positive and fun start to the year for all children to take part in! It will consist of track races, field events and fun activities.

We ask for children to come in their PE kits and to wear an item of clothing which represents their CREW colour ed, yellow, blue). This may be difficult as your child may have changed crews and may not know their colour, so don’t worry their full PE kit is absolutely fine.

Any questions, please ask your class teacher or email Mr Meade on [email protected]

We look forward to seeing you all support your superstars!

Non Uniform Day Wednesday – COME ON ENGLAND!

Hi all,

With England’s fantastic result in the Quarter Finals on Saturday. We here at Plover are going to show our support by having a England themed non-uniform day on Wednesday, as England are playing in the Semi-Final on Wednesday evening!

If you don’t have England kits, don’t worry, you can wear other football shirts, PE/sports clothes or something red and white to represent England!

Could it finally be coming home?

80:80:80 – Plover are Getting Active with Ray Matthews

Last Friday in KS1, and this morning in KS2, we had the inspirational and extraordinary Ray Matthews – a true role model!

Ray is an avid sportsman and a national icon, due to the astonishing achievements he has accomplished and vast amount of fundraisers he has done during his 79 years.

In a few weeks Ray turns 80, and 80 schools, will be completing 80 miles to raise money for Rays chosen charity Age UK! https://www.peoplesfundraising.com/donation/rays808080birthdaychallenge

As a school we see the importance of physical activity and exercise, and therefore from Monday we will be making a stand as a whole school crew, to complete the daily mile every single day – all children and all staff!

Check out the the truly astonishing video of Ray below!

Work hard – Challenge yourself – Get active – Feel great!

Our school challenge next week is to recreate a famous portrait. Use your imagination and get creative. Involve your family members if you want, but pick your picture, strike a pose and get snapping!
I chose a portrait by Holbein (a Tudor Artist) to copy, but you can choose any artist and style.
Have a look at the website for some brilliant examples!
Email a copy of the original portrait and your new version to me: [email protected] or to Miss Blackham: [email protected] by Thursday 28th May

Internet safety.

Many parents haven’t talked to their child about staying safe on the internet.

Some tips may be:

  1. Keeping the computer or tablet in a common place in your home where you can see it.

  2. Know which devices that your child can access.

  3. Remind your child to not talk to strangers online, as they wouldn’t do in the street.

  4. Know your child’s passwords.

  5. Watch out for changes in your child’s behaviour, including when the device is removed from them.

  6. Check your child’s browsing history, even if they stumble across something by mistake, this could be a good prompt for a family discussion.
