Our first day together in F2BP

What a beautiful day we have had together. We learned our first letter, m’. In maths, we learned that we can subitise. This means we can say what we can see and not need to count groups of objects to three. We also had our first PE lesson. We learned the rules in PE to keep us safe and how to move around the space without banging into each other. WHAT A DAY! We all agree- your children are amazing and we are so happy to have such a wonderful class of children.

F2 PE and Bike Riding

Today we had our first PE lesson, learning how to move our bodies in different ways – focussing on the fundamentals. Then some children enjoyed riding on their bikes and trikes. #LovePlover

Colour run fun!

We have been working on the character trait compassion. Yesterday, we held our colour run and raised money for the RSPCA (our whole school charity) and for school funds. We are determined to support our school and wider community this year.

Thank you all for your support with the colour run, we hope your children enjoyed it!

3G’s ‘Eggcellent’ compassion day

Today’s character trait has been ‘compassion’.

As part of the day, we have shown compassion to our ‘Baby Eggs’, who needed clothing, shelter and care – we had great fun using our imagination to create them.

Then it was the colour run in aid of our school and chosen charity the RSPCA (that we learnt about yesterday). Despite a few early drops of rain, we had great fun turning ourselves into colourful rainbows!!

2P have courage!

Yesterday’s character trait that we learnt about was courage. We discussed how we need courage when we are challenged with things that can make us feel uncomfortable. We learnt this by dancing in the cheerleading style. This was very challenging for some of us (including me!) but we all showed bravery and courage and gave it a good go. We now need to practise our routine a few more times before we perform it in front of the rest of the Key Stage. The final act of courage!

Year 5 and 6 daily mile

Today, year 5 and 6 got active by joining their UKS2 phase friends in a mile’s walk around the field, helping them to feel energised for the day ahead. Some children even chose to make a few spots be even more active by dancing! Well done to everyone for your brilliant participation!

Showing compassion in Year 5 & 6

Yesterday, we kick started our first week back and looked at the character trait ‘compassion’. We looked at what it means to be compassionate and show compassion and then we left school to engage in acts of service with our local care home. Some of our children played board games with the residents and they all had so much fun. The children learnt a lot from the residents such as how to play a range of card games and how to play dominoes. We are so proud of the relationships we are building with this care home and we hope to build on this throughout the year.

In a world where you can be anything, always be kind.

Integrity Story Trail

On our very first day of Year 1, we have been learning all about Integrity (one of our new character traits). We started by going on a Story Trail. We followed clues to take us to find the story. We read aloud tales like “The Boy who Cried Wolf”, “Jack and The Beanstalk”, “Goldilocks” and “Pinocchio”. We talked about whether the characters were honest and what happened if they told the truth.

First day back in 4B!

We have had an amazing first day back in 4B. We have learnt all about our character trait courage and how we can demonstrate that in school.

The children have shown great courage in a serious of activities including interacting with some creep crawlies: Charlie the spider, Humphrey the snake and cinnamon and liquorice the millipedes. Although many were nervous at first, all have shown great courage to face their fears and push themselves out of their comfort zone and should be very proud of themselves.

They also worked as a team to successfully complete some outdoor challenges to collect the gems of courage.

Overall, a fantastic, active start to the week!

We are 4H!

Where have those tiny little year three pupils, who I taught last year, gone? Everyone has grown so much over the five week summer break and everyone looked so much older today than just those few weeks ago!

What a great first day back we have had! We launched the first of our new ‘Character Traits’ today: Courage. All of our work has been based around courage and what this can look like to different people. We all learnt about a young boy called Joseph Wang who taught us that being brave doesn’t mean there has to be something risky involved like sky diving or swimming with sharks. Sometimes being brave can simply involve walking into a room full of people who are already listening to someone speaking at the front of the room.

This afternoon, we were joined by Nick from Project Wild. He introduced us to some of his friends: Humphrey – a beautiful corn snake; Cinnamon and Liquorice – two baby millipedes; and Charlie – a very beautiful Chilean rose tarantula. Everyone used their own levels of courage to decide what they could do. Some of us just looked at the animals, some of us stroked or gently touched them and many of us held them.

Well done everyone! I’m really proud of you all. Special shout out to Mrs Ogle who joined us for the session and was incredibly courageous along with us! Mason – you were awesome too, supporting Alec and calming him when he pushed himself to hold Charlie.

Remember the feeling you felt when you were courageous today folks and next time you feel anxious, scared or worried be brave, share your fear – whatever you’re afraid of probably isn’t as bad as you think!
