A huge thank you to all of the parents/carers that came along to support us on our Austerfield visit yesterday, the children had a great day. We had great fun going on a bear hunt, and making porridge for Goldilocks and the three bears.

F1 have been learning about Sikhism and their special festival, Vaisakhi. We found out that Vaisakhi is a Sikh festival, that celebrates Harvest and New Year. Sikhs go to a special temple called a Gurdwara and listen to readings from their Holy Book. We looked at the special clothes Sikhs wear for this, and in provision coloured in their flags.

This week we have been comparing objects by size, length and capacity. Today we have enjoyed exploring which objects are heavy, which objects are light, and using the scales to to compare this. We addressed the misconception that just because the object is bigger, it doesn’t mean it is heavier.

Our nursery children have been working hard to re tell the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We used props during our expedition session to re tell the story altogether, the children then independently carried this on in provision.

This week in maths we have been comparing objects by size, length and capacity. We have learnt lots of mathematical language such as full, empty, half full, long, short, big and small. We linked it to our expedition story of Goldilocks, talking about how baby bears bowl was empty, and daddy bears was full.
