Active maths in F2B

F2B had so much fun this afternoon doing some active maths in class. We read the story ā€˜Ten minutes to bed Little Mermaidā€™ where the children learnt how long 1 minute was. We then guessed how many times we could do different activities in 10 minutes such as hopping on one foot or rubbing our tummies after lunch! We then timed each other to see if we were right!

Keep up the great work F2B!

Miss Wood.

Number bonds to ten in F2

We used our rekenreks to make ten. We used one finger one push to move a number of beads and then saw how many were left on the other side. We saw five and five make ten without even moving any beads. Now we need to learn the other number bonds to ten facts. If you see us, ask us how we can make ten. Mrs Bubb hopes we will be able to tell you some!

We are marvellous mathematicians!

Well done and thank you to these superstars for being so kind as to help their friends understand how to compare decimal numbers using the < and > symbols! Your use of mathematical language was excellent. Talking your friends through the method of looking at each place value column in turn, and helping them to remember which symbol is which, enabled them to compare the decimal numbers accurately. Thank you and I hope you are proud of yourselves!

Letā€™s keep being kind to each other and working collaboratively so that together, we can make as much progress as possible before you become Year 5ā€™s!

We are so proud of our Year 4 pupils

Well done to all of our Year 4 pupils who have worked really hard over the last few months to improve their recall of multiplication facts up to 12 x 12 in preparation for their official multiplication check this week. We couldnā€™t have asked more of you and really do appreciate that the pressure has been intense but you have all done your best; so thank you and well done. Please remember though: you may have completed your official checks, but it is still really important for you to continue to work on your multiplication recall. The quicker you can remember them, the more confident you will feel in maths next year and beyond!

Well done everyone!

We are dividing by 100

This week, we have been practising dividing by 100. To do this we have been dividing by 10, then dividing by 10 a second time. Using place value grids and counters has really helped some of us to see the division happening and therefore understand that we move the digits two columns to the right to divide a number by 100.

Well done everyone! Letā€™s continue to remember that it is okay to use the resources around the room to help us understand what we are doing.

We can order numbers

Kason, Rafia and Seb have been working together to order numbers to 20. Oh the fun I had swapping them around and turning digits upside down to challenge them to correct my silliness! Well done folks. You did great!

Rekenreks

Today, we learned how to use rekenreks, in maths. We use one finger for one push! We are going to use these in the coming weeks to help us solve problems in our number work! #loveplover

Caziyah- the anchor chart queen!

This superstar has created an anchor chart for every unit of maths. She has then used these to lead not only her own learning but to coach her friends too!

I am so so proud of Caziyah. A perfect example of a 4 in working hard, getting smart and being kind in her HoWLs!
