Wonderful Roman Workshop

We have had a great day today learning about the Romans in a variety of hands-on activities.

We have learnt about the armour a Roman soldier would wear and marched like soldiers following commands in Latin; we have written on wax tablets using stylae; we have made our own mosaic designs; we have been historians and held REAL roman artefacts that are nearly 2000 years old and we have worked together to construct Roman aqueducts.

Shout Out to George and Anwyn who completed the Aqueduct challenge all on their own in record time – I certainly couldn’t have done as well as them at building!

We have grappled and had to be resilient at times, but overall we have had a great day!

Many thanks to Claire from Want2be Workshops for making a very memorable day for us all.

Space Workshop

As part of our learning about Mae Jemison, we had Jenny visit us from Alfresco Learning. We worked in mini crews to make and launch space rockets. We used plastic bottles for the rockets, water for the fuel and pumped air in to them to launch them. We listened carefully to the instructions and safety rules so we could have lots of fun learning! We had a great game of space tig and then made constellations. What a fun morning!

The history of space travel!

In pairs, we made a poster for a date and event in the history of space travel. We then put them in chronological order to make a timeline in our classroom. We used this information to write about what we know about the changes in space travel and why those changes are important to us now. Some beautiful work from 1B today! #loveplover

Aircraft museum

F2P had a wonderful morning at the aircraft museum learning about different aircraft. They enjoyed pretending to be pilots and seeing the different vehicles. They found lots of old objects and learnt about what life was like in the war.

Thank you to all out helpers.

Mining Jobs

Year 6 had a busy morning – they were learning about the roles in the mines. The children then read the job descriptions (and the amount of money that these jobs paid!) before acting out the different roles. We are looking forward to incorporating this into our stories this week. #LovePlover
