It’s a celebration!

Year 2 has had a fabulous celebration of learning this afternoon. Thank you so much to all of the adults who were able to join us! The children proudly presented a summary of all of their learning throughout the expedition ‘Diverse Doncaster: Where do we belong?’.

We also proudly showed off our final product. Our very own BSL course for beginners. The children taught the grown ups how to use basic signs and then we has a BSL finger spelling challenge between the children and the grown-ups!

The children then proudly showed off their learning from this expedition. Great work Year 2!

Final words so far..

As our Year 6’s get ready to embark on their next chapters, they have the opportunity to reflect on their time at Primary and how they have developed as a learner as well as how they are preparing themselves for secondary school. I am so proud of you all and all you have achieved during your time at Plover. You have all presented with so much confidence and I feel privileged to have a been part of your journey!

I can’t wait to see more final words next week!

Creating treasure maps

As part of our celebration of learning next week, the children have created treasure maps. They then voted for the three they thought were the best to be used in a game. These were our competition winners. Well done girls.

Travelling around the Land of Nod

Today in maths we used lots of directional words and position words. The children were able to use forwards, backwards and sideways. Some of the children are competent at using left and right.

We moved around the different places in the story.

Friends of Plover

Do you fancy being a part of our local community group: Friends of Plover?

We are keen to create a local community group to support events at Plover. This could be anything from supporting with fundraising events, expedition learning events or judging school competitions!

We would plan on this small group of volunteers meeting (over a coffee!) once a term to discuss upcoming events.

If you would like to put your name forward to join this group then please complete the Google form below.

Many thanks

The Land of Nod Map

We put the pictures from the story onto the right place on our giant floor map. We used above, below, to the side, right and left. We asked the children to stand on one place in the map and follow our directions. We used left, right, forwards and backwards to get to different parts of The Land of Nod.

Preparing For Our COL

This week we have been looking at repeating patterns. We used paint to create repeating patterns on the buntings, ready for our celebration of learning. We then used our fine motor skills to write our names on the back, and cut out the bunting.
Reminder; we would love to see as many of you as possible at our celebration of learning! On Thursday 4th July at 2pm.

We are artists

This week we have been awesome artists. We have focused on our monochromatic skills. First we developed our pencil skills to make dots, lines, shapes, patterns and decorative designs. Then we practised different shading techniques such as hatching, cross hatching, stippling and blending. Finally, we put all our skills together to sketch our line drawings of the Deaf School. Using Austin’s Butterly critique we were able to refine and improve our art. We have created some beautiful work! #LovePlover
