Amongst all the craziness and celebrations last week. We had an awesome visit from two expert firefighters and their amazing fire truck! The children had a safety talk about bonfire night and fireworks. Then they found out why firefighters are so kind and help people in their jobs. Before exploring the fire truck’s cool equipment and spraying the giant hose! #LovePlover
Last week the children made Diwali sweets, brightly colourful rangoli patterns and enjoyed some Diwali dancing to spread positivity and happiness! #LovePlover
As part of our Diwali slice last week we discussed different celebrations. The children spoke about bonfire night and asked to make some bright, firework paintings to shine their artistic light! #LovePlover
It was with great pride that we had the opportunity to represent Plover School today at the Doncaster Remembrance Sunday Parade at the Cenotaph on Bennetthorpe.
Paisley and Anwyn carried the wreath, with the centre piece incorporating LKS2 children’s images, and placed it on the cenotaph, to complete the ceremony.
It meant so much to see many of the Armed Forces, both past and present, there and really made us think about our LKS2 expedition, ‘Lest We Forget; How does war change lives?”
Hopefully, this will become an annual event for Plover.
What an amazing 1st dance class we had this evening. The dance teachers and children had so much fun, showing off their own dance moves and creating lots of shapes! Same time next week Dance Crew… #LovePlover
Nursery have worked hard to create their own hand print poppies, which we then stuck together to create a whole class wreath. We learnt about why we celebrate Remembrance Day and what the poppies stand for.
This week we have been learning about how we can make our light shine, through different festivals and being kind to others. To end the week, we celebrated with our own glow party! The children loved it and showed they had some fantastic dance moves.
This October half term, 9 members of staff from across XP Trust travelled to San Diego to work with the best project based learning teacher in the world – Jeff Robin. Each teacher brought with them a personally crafted exemplar – a tangible product of their passion and planning – to refine and inspire transformative future Expeditions.
Inspired by Jeff’s groundbreaking work at High Tech High, the school that inspired XP, they sought to elevate their teaching through creativity, activism, and lasting legacy. Away from the familiar, they embraced new ideas in a setting that ignited their imagination…
Stay tuned for the full length documentary and story of Jeff Tech High…
We are asking children to join us next Friday wearing pyjamas in aid of Children in need. We did not want to ask parents to spend further money on costumes/outfits etc. However, if your child has children in need clothes, they are more than welcome to wear them instead of pyjamas.
